My husband and I came here for lunch this past Saturday around noon. The place got very busy within minutes, yet the staff remained friendly and attentive to the very end of our meal. My seafood soft tofu stew was delicious. It included plump clams, one shrimp and a mussel. My husband ordered the lunch combo of marinated spicy pork+mixed soft tofu stew for just under $20. I think I could have just ordered a side of rice instead of ordering my own stew. I thought the portions were pretty generous. They also have a playroom with a live feed playing on the TVs around the restaurant so parents can eat kid-free. Ideal for children ages 4 and up. I would definitely go back!

Good chain restaurant for soondubu and galbi. I'm not sure why but someone once told me coming here for galbi was like going to McDonald's for a steak....... Can anyone shed light on this statement? Is it because it's a chain? I don't agree, I think the ribs and soups are good. The kimchi selection is good too. The interior is nicely decorated and large. Service is good (I'd never expect friendly service, let's be real) so I have no complaints. Maybe someone can help me understand what that person meant by what they said.

BCD Tofu House is a good place to get some Korean SoonDubu. The Restaurant is very clean and the staff is efficient and quick. The food was great. Not my favorite SoonDubu joint but the quality is there. My friends and I ordered an assortment of Soondubu's, My favorite was the Dumpling and Beef. Albeit the price is high, the Meal was incredibly filling due to the large assortment of side dishes. Unlike most hole-in-the-wall Tofu houses the banchan took up most of the table. Really wish they had the Spicy Cucumber that I'm use to finding. Their kimchi also lacked fermentation. Everything else was ace. If you go with a group of friends make sure to order a Korean pizza/pancake (pajun)! It is filled with seafood goodness and your friends will love you.

Ahhhmazing! My family is a frequent customer of the N.Y. Location and this one is just as good, or maybe even better? The food comes out quick and piping hot, I always have to order tofu stew with kalbi and I eat the burnt rice with hot water with it. The kalbi marinade is delicious and the char from the grill imparts great flavor. Finger licking good! And the tofu stew is worth sweating over in the middle of summer heat. Other than these menu items, I can't really vouch for the rest like the dokbokgi.. Bcd is a tofu house, so just eat that ok?

Better than So Kong Dong - that's for sure. I've been living in Fort Lee for almost a decade now, and was delighted to see a big, new BCD making itself cozy in the nearest strip mall area. We have a Pancake House there which gets totally packed during brunch (esp on the weekends), so if they tell you your wait is an hour, you might want to try BCD - granted, it's totally different from what you trekked out of your home to get brunch for. Pancakes and tofu don't mix. Their tofu tastes good and I love their combo meals. I usually get the seafood tofu (normal spice) with the spicy crab combo. Very good! They have a children's room with a TV monitor of what's going inside the playroom, so rest assured, eat away without a hitch here, parents! I asked them about how their fried fish is so tiny - they say they actually buy them in large wholesale quantities, just for the purpose of being individual banchans. Their banchan is also far more diverse than So Kong Dong (where there's only like 2 sides). The price is a bit heftier but hey, paying $15 for a hearty meal? Not bad. The service is attentive - the one great thing about Korean restaurants is, you don't have a set waiter - you can really call any of the waiters to help you.

I came to this restaurant to meet my college buddy and her husband. We came here on a sunny and freezing Saturday afternoon. The parking lot was packed and it was difficult to find a spot, even the parking garage was full. I had to park on one of the side street and hoped I wouldn't get a parking ticket. This place was very busy, it was busier than most bars in Buffalo during St. Patrick's day. It seemed to be an interminable wait and people were willing to stand for a table. I thought to myself, this restaurant must be good. The restaurant looked spacious with big windows that brought some light in. I noticed green decorative print on the ceiling perked up the room, with rows of Korean stone bowls as a divider between the dining and waiting area. It was way pass lunch time and all I wanted was FOOD. The menu was interesting, all of the main course came with tofu soup, which can be ordered mild, regular, or spicy. I chose kimchi-beef tofu soup off the lunch special. The soup was deliciously spicy and enjoyable without burning my tongue. My friends ordered sizzling marinated beef off the main course with tofu soup. The beef was well-marinated, the taste of garlic and sweet chili brought a great flavor when eaten with steam rice. We also ordered seafood and green scallion Korean pancake which was tasty. I just wished the pancake wasn't too thick and a little bit crispier. The portion was unbelievably huge, not to mention the side dish definitely hit the spot. I must say, this was the best Korean food I've ever had. Everything about it was great to the last bite. The food was a bit pricey but it was worth every penny. The tea made out of the rice stone bowl was phenomenal. Our server was attentive and patient. We didn't feel rushed out the door, especially when there were people waiting in line to be seated. Just be careful when you follow the GPS to get to this place, it is so close to the George Washington bridge. Once you miss a turn, it'll bring you to the bridge and voila! Welcome to New York City! I would gladly come back here, maybe not during the weekend though.

Doesn't get better than this. NonGMO soybeans used for all their tofu. No MSG? Idk about that... But that's what they claim. We came straight from a intense workout so we were famished which might be a contributing factor for reason why I thought this place was awesome!! Lol We ordered seafood pancake -- the texture was amazing. Super chewy and crispy ends. Butttttt they skimp out on the seafood.. Mostly scallions. So bummer on that sense. Seafood beef combo soondubu: good. It had clams 1 shrimp and 1 mussel. And then rest thinly sliced beef bits. But the tofu and the broth was great. Kimchi tofu stir fry with thin slices of pork: was AMAZING. Best dish of the meal easily. Side note "KIMCHI TEST" if you go to any Korean restaurant, the test to knowing if their food would be good or not is the kimchi test. Try their kimchi side dish. If that tastes good then you know the rest of their food would taste good. It's like if you master the basics you will only rise from there. But if u can't get the most essential part of the cuisine right... Then you need to reevaluate sista. I loveeeee the fact that they give you a complimentary fish per person! Ugh that's the best. I also like that they make their rice in the traditional stone bowls. The rice always tastes better like that. All that for $48 bucks. Not bad at all. I will definitely be back for their lunch menu combos to try those kalbi.

Pleasurable experience and tasty food. Overall, friendly service, though, some staff were friendlier than others. I ordered the seafood soondubu which was yummy because the seafood wasn't overcooked (score!) and the tofu was nice and silky but I have had better (perhaps it was too watery?). The Galbi was delicious! Yum!! Tender and well seasoned; just slightly fatty. My favorite parts of the meal though was the fried fish as part of the banchan and the rice soup we were offered at the end (we didn't order it; not sure if they give it all the time) which reminded me of my childhood! They were also generous with my glass of wine! Place is spacious, clean, trendy (they were playing Pop music), and has an area strictly for kids to play in which was a first! I plan to go back to try other dishes!

The Fort Lee BCD is... okay. Definitely better than So Kong Dong but definitely not the best when compared within its own ranks. When you come to BCD, you come for one thing: soondubu jjigae. Soondubu jigae is the spicy soft tofu soup that usually brings life back into me especially after a late night or a night that was filled with alcohol. It is my go-to hangover cute. The best part of this BCD is the parking lot. With that being said, it lacks what I really want from soonbudu: revitalization. Having to drive here already made it's stock drop a bit. Not even the live video feed from the children waiting room make up for it (not even if it's a big kid making a fool out of him/her self). The banchan comes with BCD's signature fried fish for every diner.. for the most part, they are okay. The seafood pancake usually comes out too... thick and doughy. Not as crisp as I prefer. If in Fort Lee, come here. If in NY, go to KTown.

Been coming to this BCD since they opened in Fort Lee. Compared to other tofu restaurants around Fort Lee area a little more pricy, but definitely worth it. Nothing like hot spicy tofu stew to warm you up on a cold day. As you walk towards the restaurant, you'll be overwhelmed with the sweet aroma of Korean BBQ. Even if your not hungry, you will want to eat after smelling this. I always order the kimchi tofu stew, spicy. My wife orders mixed (has everything) tofu stew, spicy. We made the mistake of ordering VERY spicy once and we paid the price (BTS - most Koreans may know what this means). Of course, got to have an order of LA Kalbi (Korean BBQ ribs). Be careful, they don't do the best job of cleaning the ribs, so time to time, there may be tiny piece of bone fragments. The pork bulgogi is also very good (my second favorite) with just the right amount of spiciness. Their lunch special combo is a good deal (tofu stew with LA Kalbi, bulgogi, or port bulgogi). According to the menu, all their tofu are organic and they don't use MSG in their stew. Their side table dishes are pretty good. You could ask for more as much and often as you want. Wife really enjoys the deep fried whole fish. For a Korean restaurant, the service is very good and the staff are actually nice. For those parents with high energy kids, there is a playroom with a camera, so you could watch your kids on the TV screen. On weekends, there is a long wait during lunch and dinner. It's a very popular place.

Dirty chopsticks . I lost my appetite . Asked for rice more than twice . Straw wrapper in my L.A. kalbi . Seafood pancake was filled with 80% veggies and it was extremely plain . Asked for sauce twice . Waitresses doesn't know any English . Raw crab wasn't good . I felt so rushed .. I'm so disappointed ! I love the BCD in Manhattan & Flushing :(

My review is strictly on the short duration of the Naengmyuen from June to September 5th 2015 (That's ONLY 3 months!). My wife and I love the Naengmyun from BCD Tofu house and we have enjoyed it while we could. Today, we were very disappointed to hear the management's decision to STOP making Naengmyun for the year. It is a shame that BCD Tofu house will not respond to the request of its customers to extend the sale of their Naengmyeun and only make it seasonal for a short duration of time. Limiting their menu to hot foods only when their customers enjoy their Naengmyun is a poor decision of its management team that needs to change.

One of the better soon do boo (soft tofu soup) places around. This restaurant focuses primarily on soft tofu soups and they are really good at what they do. There are some other dish options, which sometimes come as a combo with the soft tofu soup. Atmosphere is casual and clean. The place is generally packed- for lunches anyway, including weekdays and weekends. I guess that's a testament to how good the food is here. There's usually a little bit of a wait, but it's worth it. I usually get their spicy soft tofu soup with seafood but today I got the mild version with dumplings...yum! Their banchans (side dishes) are just enough and of good variety. Also, they bring out rice in steaming hot stone bowls, which cooks the rice inside it. It makes for perfectly cooked white rice- chewy and not dry. Service is fast and polite.

This place had a good rating for the tofu soup on Yelp, so I decided to try for a dinner. Restaurant was clean and decorated well. I went there around 6:45 pm and they were busy. I ordered very spicy everything tofu soup, and LA galbi + cold noodle set. Tofu soup was good but the rest was just okay.

I know we all miss the old tofu places like the original So Gong Dong. I do too but somehow every tofu place just cannot hold down their original taste. It's either my taste buds are changing or they are not using the same ingredients. Whatever the case maybe, I have come to accept BCF Tofu as the best place in this town. You cannot simply get anything better in this town. Yes, I'm emphasizing this town because you could probably get something better in Queens or LA or even Atlanta. But it's not Fort Lee and not New Jersey. I like their fried fish, simple side dishes (broccoli, pickles, string squid), tofu and kalbi. I am not a fan of their spicy pork bbq (too heavy on the sauce and too burnt usually). I do not like their bibimbop either. It cannot compare to Gameeok's bibimbop. I have not tried anything else on the menu so yes NO COMMENTS. The staff is very friendly and accommodating always; maybe it's because we've seen each other at other restaurants for about 20 years now here and there. Yeah, get there early because it is always crowded. For lunch, get there around 11:50 AM. It gets crowded as soon as it hits noon.

I tried this place again and maybe it's because I chose mild for my soondubu jigae, but my soup seemed pretty bland.

What's left to do once you've hit up all locations of BCD in your area? You go out of state of course! It was a cold and rainy day, after shopping for a bit at Mitsuwa - we decided to get some delish soondubu. This location was only 10 mins away and really hit the spot. The staff was super nice! Location was clean and similar to the location in bayside decor wise. Soondubu was slighty watery but the flavor was still there. Galbi was spot on! Will return if ever in the area.

Trendy place with alot of big tables, so great for families and groups. Tons of small plates and comes with a fried fish for each person. I can't think of one dish that did not come without tofu, I mean it is a tofu house. Soup bases tastes good, level of spiciness is on point. They have a danger! A friend of mine from the mommy club gets it, it IS pretty dangerous, I took the tiniest bite and my lips felt like it was burning, like a dragon blowing out fire! I thought their japchae was only alright, flavors just wasn't there. The seafood pancake was overloaded with seafood and it was delicious. The ribs were tender and savory. We also had a squid plate, cannot recall the name of the dish, squid was cooked perfectly with a nice kick to it. Parents, come and expect long waits! Kids, go have fun in the playroom!

Me and the boyfriend used to come here a little too often, probably about twice weekly, but after a while needed to venture out. Months ago I found this place to have the most amazing food and would have given it 5 stars. Sometimes the place was packed but even then you were in and out pretty quickly, food was delicious and left me just craving more. I used to get the spicy octopus or the spicy squid. It came with a side of rice and a huge plate of spicy fish mixed with veggies and onions and tofu. The fish was always cooked perfectly and spiced amazingly. But either I got too tired of it and/or the quality started getting a little less fantastic. Either way I was excited to come back here after not visiting for a few months. It was nice that we came on a weekday because there was less people. We got seated immediately and were brought water, usually they bring tea so that we had to request which was weird. This place like many Korean restaurants brings you a bunch of small little appetizers while waiting for your course. Both me and the boyfriend were very disappointed with the 4 or 5 small dishes that were brought out- they were all very americanized, like Mac n cheese and potato salad, when usually it's a bunch of spicy little veggie side dishes. I ordered the bibimbap and enjoyed it (nothing's special but also nothing wrong with it). My boyfriend got a spicy pork kimchee dish which he was super excited about but felt a little let down with the quality and the flavor. The dishes came out quick but then it was like the waitresses forgot about us because we had to keep asking for stuff- packing things up and getting a check and having that picked up. Overall it's decent Korean food but I feel like the quality of service and food has dropped since I started coming here over a year ago.

Solid spot for my winter soondubu craving. I brought my bf here to have soondubu for the very first time. He was amazed at how much banchan we were getting. A fish for each of us too! The combos are a bit pricey, but totally worth it for what you're getting. Bonus: there's a pastry shop next door if you're in for some bubble tea or pastries.

After being a devoted So Kong Dong customer, I wanted to try something new while still satisfying my soft tofu soup cravings. BCD Tofu house caught my eye on Yelp and it was a delicious trip! I love the ambience of the place- modern, but still traditional and also very spacious. They give plenty of banchan, usually translated as "side dishes", which is another plus. I believe a Korean spot is as good as their banchan. Their menu is also extensive and colorful! I enjoyed the number of options they had compared to the one monotone page menu I've seen in most tofu spots. (I like options). Especially, delicious options. The menu itself makes you want to come back to try more! I like the tofu and main dish combo as a lunch option. Very smart. I will definitely be back to indulge in that. Now the food! Spicy pork bbq: yummy fatty porky heaven. Galbi: almost required & always delicious. Seafood & beef tofu soup (Medium): Plenty of tofu. Just how I like it! The only star that was missing was the service. Our waiter wasn't very attentive.

They have great soondooboo! I'm never disappointed when I go bc the food is always good and I get exactly what I want/expect. Usually a long wait during lunch and dinner time but if u go a little earlier than the peak times, you don't have to wait at all.

Oh yes yes yes! The gal-bi here is fantastic, although it's a bit hard to eat without the scissors I'm used to getting to cut the meat off the bone. The side dishes brought at the beginning of the meal are also super, especially the kimchi which they refilled three times since we kept finishing it all. You'll also get a cute little fried fish at the beginning of the meal which I never eat.

  • Tony L.

Fresh silky tofu is what makes this place. They serve their tofu in many ways, and I find them all pleasant. Lunch specials are great with heavy portions. Best thing for a family, kid play area with video cameras so you can watch your kids via a screen while sitting in the dining area. That's the highlight for a parent as much as the tofu here.

I went to camp with my other friends and it was a week without Korean food and we were all craving it and we all decided to get sundubu cause we all loved it. My friend recommended it and everyone has been here at least once except for me so i was expecting really great food and it has met my expectations. We were all happy after eating this food and i will definitely will come back.

( 2 stars is average taking price into consideration ) The soon doobu is good here. I have always done takeout as the noise level in the restaurant was extremely annoying when they opened up. I am not sure if they ever fixed it.

  • Daniel H.

The owner/manager greeted us very warmly and directed us to our seat. the restaurant is nicely built and it was comfortable being there. they have many options on the menu but the main dish people get is the soondooboo (soon tofu soup). I ate the beef tofu soup and it was absolutely delicious. it was well made and every bite of tofu, egg, and beef was amazing. they had some good banchan (sidedishes) as well which included kimchi!

  • Gloria H.

BCD is as good as soondoobu gets, whether it's Queens, K-Town or Fort Lee. There's ample parking as well as seating and the location is convenient. Service is fast and friendly, and the tofu here is to notch. The dangerous spicy is perfect for those of us who complain that other places don't pack a punch in their 'spicy' soups!

    (4)
  • Shirley S.

The food is really good here. Had the seafood tofu soup regular spicy. Not too spicy. Probably could have gone a level up. The tofu soup comes out boiling. They bring you a raw egg to put in. I've never had korean tofu soup. So I didn't notice the egg till later. But the soup was still hot. So it worked out. Wait to eat... it will burn your tongue. We also ordered the LA Gal Bi. It was sooo good. My husband said he liked it better than Dong Bang Grills Galbi. They have a kids play room. They had all the korean sides. They brought out a fried fish. Which I guess they do for people who ordered entrees. It was good but boney. Husband enjoyed the kimchi. The waiter had put tea in the rice bowl and gave us the ricey tea. I did not like that... I'm not korean... so I guess I'm just not used to it... but all in all everything was delicious!

  • Tiffany T.

Really good, just as I remembered the one in LA. I got the combination L1 that included LA kalbi + soondubu. I have no complaints on the taste at all. The soondubu was on point, spicy and perfect with white rice as usual. The kalbi had a nice smokey flavor to it. Reason they do not get a 5 star: Our server did not speak English. Hey, I'm all for being super authentic and I appreciate you're straight off the boat. And I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but I'm sorry to say, it is a fact.. we are in America. If you cannot even speak a lick of English... that's an issue. My boyfriend ordered L2. And she proceeded to draw a circle, with squiggly lines and point at it, and talk to us SLOWLY in Korean. I'm sorry, but speaking slower doesn't help the fact that WE ARE NOT KOREAN. It was very amusing to say the least. But that's the only reason they don't get 5 stars.

We came here with friends visiting from Germany who love this tofu restaurant. We all ordered soondubu. The side dishes are fresh and soondubu was good however the rice portion size was smaller than before. Service is a bit lacking and you have to request for more side dishes and water.

My sister loves this place ... and I was a fan when I finally got to try it out. Great banchan ... every person gets a whole little fish that was tasty, even though it was a pain to pick the bones out. Really good kimchi ... a little on the sweeter side, which was very good. Dolsot bibimbap was delicious and the portion was huge. My sis got the pork soondubu, also good. The tot had a taste of the pre pepper paste bibimbap and steamed mandoo. The seafood pajun was filled with seafood. BCD is located within a little mall and parking was easy. What I thought was really cool is that there is a little room devoted just to kids .... padded walls and floors, a little mini climbing wall, tv set up with children's videos, toys. There is a large TV screen in the main dining room where parents can monitor their children in the playroom. I have seen this sort of set up at fitness clubs, but never in a restaurant. Pretty cool way to keep the little ones occupied through the meal.

I've been to many restaurants for Korean Bbq and this is by far the best i've had. The kalbi ribs come in a huge portion which is great meal to share between two. The ribs are well marinated, flavorful and very easy to chew. The appetizers which come with the meal are very tasty as well. My favorite was the korean macaroni salad. The staff as well is very friendly and the ambience is very nice compared to other korean restaurants i've been to. This is my second time here and will definitely not be my last!

Best soon dooboo restaurant in the area. I can't add much more than what's been said already but One of my favorite items on the menu is the raw marinated crab. This place does it right and you can get it as a combination for lunch.

Came here with a few friends and the food was so good. They have a spicy rice cake dish that I have been wanting to try. It was good. I also got the pan fried noodles with beef and rice. The tofu vegetarian soup was good and the fact you cracked an egg into it was cool. I would definitely come here again.

love soondooboo and if you want a great soondooboo BCD is a must! BCD has been around for a long time and when you have their soondooboo you can see why. soondooboo is generally hard to make and this place does a great job! there are different levels of spiciness that you can choose from. also their lunch specials are great as well. i usually get a lunch special and a small soondooboo and split with a friend and leave full!

This is our go-to Korean place in fort lee. What kind of restaurant has their own play area filled with activities, kid friendly mats, and televisions around the restaurant so you can monitor your children while you're eating? They also provide you with complimentary white tofu and broth for your children along with plastic cups with lids. For a parent, this can make your experience actually somewhat enjoyable. Side dishes are always delicious and don't forget that you can always ask for more. I love ordering the kalbi and soon tofu (with varying degrees of spiciness) combo for a great deal.

Solid soondubu - which works since that's what it specializes in. I tried the Soft Shell Crab tofu soup - it's a seasonal special and I'm told it will last only until tomorrow (over once the crabs run out). It's a bit pricier than their standard rotation on menu but it was worth trying. The soup base is a seafood broth (all their others are made from beef broth). Yummy! I love soft shell crab so....there was also clams and other seafood in it as well. I love cracking the egg into the bottom of the rice bowl (you need to do this immediately while the rice is piping hot) - cover the entire egg and let it "cook". then I mix it all together. most people crack the egg into the tofu soup. to each their own. Consistent go to restaurant.....a TAD pricey for what it is, but they also give a lot of side dishes so ok.

This place in Fort Lee doesn't need a review as it is always packed, and deserves it's reputation. This is my 'go to' place when I can't be sure what I want to eat, or we're on our way back home from a trek out somewhere in NJ or NY state and want some good food before we get home. Normal queuing time is between 3-15 minutes at peak time, and 0-5 mins at off-peak. I'm a massive fan of the Spicy BBQ Pork (D4) which arrives on a sizzling iron plate and cooks nicely in front of you while you mix the pork and onions together with your chopsticks. My girlfriend adores the spicy tofu soup which she has made at Danger level of spice. Every meal comes with the traditional Korean accompaniments of pickled burdock, pickles, kim chi, tempura style whole fish, onions, etc., and we normally share a small plate of steamed dumplings if we are feeling particularly hungry, but otherwise we are perfectly full when we leave. Of course there is free flow green tea at all times.

I almost lost it when I learned from Christine G. There was a BCD in Jersey. I Love BCD in Ktown, but I'm often not in the mood to venture above 23rd street and the Ktown location always has a wait to be seated as well as the fact that it's always loud. I was hoping the BCD in Fort Lee would be my Nirvana of soondubu, but alas no :(. I'll start with the pros: - great vegetable soondubu soup and the sides were awesome as well. There were a few differences from the city location, no pickled bean spouts but there was a nice tofu skin with black sesame side instead. - no wait for a table. - parking was easy in the lot in front of the restaurant. The quality of the food here is great, just as good as in the city. And here's where stars star coming off...... Cons: - blasting cheesy pop music nonstop is annoying. I know Koreans love them some pop ballads, but could we turn the volume down a little at least? - They had a room were you could deposit your screaming child while you eat. I LOVE this idea. But. If your going to have a room for screaming children.... Close the freaking door! What good is a screaming children room with an open door? - my real gripe was the service. My water glass was never refilled and my waiter disappeared. Water is important because the soup is spicy, so they definitely have to make more if an effort on water refills. It took a good 20 mins to flag down another waiter to get the check. The waiters for other tables were IMPOSSIBLE to make eye contact with. BCD Fort Lee, please work on your service!

It seems prices have increased across the board while service and quality have decreased. A 20 minute wait turned into 40 because they seem to have difficulty accomodating odd numbers (and we were a party of 5, not something crazy). One of our tofu soup orders were messed up, the fish dish was half inedible, food just didn't taste as good. Plates weren't cleared and everything was dropped off at once and we were never checked on. Another victim of the difficult economy, perhaps...all in all, disappointed.

BCD tofu house is a staple in my family's restaurant rotation. Everything I've had here is delicious. Our usual order includes a couple tofu soups, an order of the la galbi, and the pork kimchi dish. The soup comes out piping hot and it's a healthy serving of galbi. It's regularly packed but the wait typically isn't too bad. They have good combo lunch specials for under $20 that includes galbi and a tofu soup. If you're in the area and you're looking for a solid Korean meal, def take a trip here.

This restaurant officially became my favorite place. Love the rice. I don't usually have much carbs, but I can finish two rice here! The only complaint is that it's a long line for dinner. Get prepared!

This is the next best thing for parents with young children...guys they have a playroom for kids with tv and rock climbing walls in the restaurant so that parents can eat. Oh and don't worry if you're worried about your kids they have a large screen tv in the main hall so you can eat and watch your kids having fun at the same time. The kids menu is seriously awesome too they make the temperature just right so your child doesnt burn their mouth. I went in and was seriously amazed by the children's playroom. Its small but its definitely worth it to keep your child entertained. How many times have you gone to a restaurant and end up rushing out of their because your children just hated you and their life? *hands up* but with the state of the art playroom you'll be able to eat like a normal human being instead of ramming everything in your mouth as fast as you can and getting the rest to go but because you were so busy packing everything up you end leaving your take out kind of person. Oh yeah the food, the food is good too and organic tofu? Um hello if that doesnt scream healthy i dunno what will. For all the parents out there this is a go to for mom dates and playdates!

Went here for Sunday lunch. Very crowded and tight spaces between the tables. Some people were obnoxiously loud, and it was a bit annoying. Food was good, although I didn't feel like it was spectacular or anything special. But I must point out that I definitely noticed the difference with other Tofu places because BCD didn't use any MSG. I got a beef soondooboo (less spicy): just average, nothing special. My boyfriend got pork bulgogi: He said it was the best pork bulgogi he's ever had so far. I'm giving them 4 stars because the waitress wasn't very friendly. I understand that she was very busy but she did not look happy to serve us. Oh well, I am willing to go back some time and try their different menu.

Fantastic place. I've had soondubu here many times and it never ceases to amaze. Service is only ok, flag down a waiter if you need something.

My office colleagues took me to this Korean restaurant across the GW bridge in NJ. At first I was a little confused as to why we had to drive all the way there, leaving so many good restaurants in NYC. Food was unbelievably good. They served some appetizers that were free which included fish and fish cakes along with Khimchi. We had the tofu soup all the different types. They were all extremely flavorful. Seafood pizza is a must have. I would love to go there again and again, only of it was close.

We love this BCD!! And we love soondubu!! Been here many many a times (I'm the DUKE!! haha) and our experience has been great every time. We love the lunch specials when we can order the LA kalbi with a side of soondubu... so money!!

I've heard many great things about the BCD in Fort Lee so I gave it a try with a few other people. We ordered a mild soondubu and spicy soondubu with kalbi lunch special, along with a seafood pancake. Overall, the food was... okay. The soondubu was definitely better than the majority of other soondubu places in Fort Lee and Palisades Park, but everything else was pretty mediocre. The banchan (side dishes) were nothing special, but they did serve fried fish to those who ordered an entree. There was a bit of an issue as the two soondubus came out mild, although one was supposed to be spicy, but they ended up supplying some hot peppers to increase the spiciness. The galbi was well marinated but had a bit too much fat, and the seafood pancake was heavy and had too little seafood but too much batter. It was an okay lunch, but taking into consideration the prices, it wouldn't be one of my top choices next time.

Soondooboo or soft tofu soup is really great here. they have many kinds of soondooboo you can choose from and they have non tofu foods too! The broth is really deep and rich. especially on cold days, it's amazing. the best part is that you get to choose the level of spicy you want it. but be warned. the spiciest level is quite spicy. don't get too crazy now. i also like how they get you started with some fried fish appetizer that comes along with every soondooboo order. tasty! (don't swallow a bone though) plenty of parking space too

Yum yum yum! I'm not too familiar with Korean food but everyone here has always been very friendly and accommodating. My favorite dish is the Galbi (bbq short ribs). Never fails to disappoint!

Don't come expecting a light meal - you will surely walk out feeling very very satisfied. Tofu hot pots with side dishes to complement it. Top marks.

Fantastic service and fantastic food! The lunch soondubu menu is the best, not very expensive at all. Their stew will truly warm you up during the cold months! As for all the side dishes, they are excellent, and will refill them if needed. I would strongly recommend pa-jeon, or the seafood pancake. As for the location, parking can be a bit difficult since the lot fills up fast but luckily there's a small garage nearby. During busy nights you'll have to wait a few minutes but it's not too terrible. Interior is clean and well-lit. Servers and the manager are super friendly.

Great spot in NJ for Tofu soup. The parking lot is large and you'll definitely find a spot. One of the best tofu soup broth's i've had. Very flavorful. Went for the seafood and beef tofu soup, mild. Great mixed with your rice and comfort food for a cold day. Lot's of seafood, clams, muscles, shrimp, and ground beef. Also great free sides. I liked the whole mini fried fish and the kimchi. Breaking the fresh eg into the tofu soup was tasty as you mix it in it cooks up. A fan of the spicey pickles as well. The fried seafood pancake was crispy but a bit greasy to my liking. Service can be a bit rushed but i guess that's how they get their high turnover of seatings. I'll be back for sure.

The food is excellent. I had the Galbi and bulgogi (I get 10 points for pronouncing it correctly). The side dishes are amazing- like all my yelp eliters said, the whole fish is a nice touch. I love whole fish but for someone who isn't used to it...watch out for the bones. The kimchi was one of the best I've ever had and I loved the squid/radish in kimchi sauce side too (not sure what it's called). As for the main dishes...the Galbi was AMAZING. No need to go to an overpriced Korean BBQ spot. Nice portion and delicious flavor. And for the bulgogi...it was good BUT...where are the traditional lettuce wraps and sesame sauce?? Also since the clay pot was so hot it over cooked the beef a little. All in all the flavor was amazing. Private lot parking. OH! Most importantly... I called beforehand to see if this place was BYOB and they said they do serve only beer/wine but it's $20 for BYOB. Yeah no thanks- I'll stick to the limited beer/wine menu.

YUM!!! YUM!!! Parking available on an upper lot off Lemione. Clean bathrooms, kiddie play area, and attentive staff. We got: 3 soft tofu pots (mixed seafood, dumpling, and curry) which you can get any spicy level you want. The LA Galbi and the Jae Chep (spelling it all wrong, but it's the fried vermicelli noodles with tofu, beef and vegs). They give you sticky rice, small fried whole fish, and lots of small sides. Everything was soooooooooo good! We got there at 6pm on a Tuesday night and there were already a few tables occupied. By the time we left about an hour or so later, there were more tables occupied, mostly by Korean patrons, which is a good sign (Korean patrons eating good Korean food, yes please!) 4 people, took home a small takeout container, $81 without tip! Not bad and wonderfully full!:)

Most amazing Korean place!!! I've been going to this place for a while. I basically never had an average meal there, it is always outstanding. They specialize in Soondubu, it is amazing. However, it is def. on the spicy side and when I go there, I usually take mild. However, I think their best dish is Galbi. I've brought numerous ppl there and they have all said that BCD Galbi is off the charts. It is really delicious. Small plates are also amazing there and they switch them all the time. Also, they have ASAHI on draft for $5 a glass! P.S. they have a game room for little kids!!!

BCD is my favorite. I've been to their Ktown and Northern Blvd locations and have been a long time fan. This one had the best seafood pancake EVER. So tasty!!! I can eat a whole pancake by myself.* Galbi was amazing, as usual. I got the oyster soondubu, plain because I can't handle spice and "mild" at the Northern Blvd location almost killed me. But "plain" here was more plain than in other locations. I will get mild next time if I come back to Jersey! *Probably an exaggeration

BCD = Delicious Soft Tofu. The Korean Kalbi is delicious too. I was so excited when this place opened a few years ago because the only decent Soft Tofu was at So Kong Dong. The only thing there is that they had terrible service because they were the best place in town. Also, it's a great place because they have a kids room and a TV that you can monitor while you eat. The food is really top quality. The only drawback that it sometimes takes some time to get there.

Even though it's not a high-end Korean restaurant, the service was impeccable. In fact, in all my years of eating in Korean restaurants, I've never experienced service that was so responsive and prompt. I had the mushroom soon dubu and a part of the LA kalbi we ordered to share and they were both excellent. I took a bite of the bibim naengmyun my daughter ordered and it did not stand out. The banchan dishes were very tasty and the fresh kimchi was some of the best I've had. They just kept refiling the empty dishes. Prices are extremely reasonable and the place was well-run and well-kept. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a Korean tofu house with great service.

This place has been on my "to go to" list for a while and it was definitely worth it! The only reason this is getting a 4 and not 5 starts is I was not a fan of all of the small free plates they serve. I really wish the server explained what some of the items were. The food: Seafood soondubu and the pork soondubu were both really delicious. I think the egg which you have to mix in is what really makes the soup. It gives it a really good texture and makes for a more filling dish. My FAVORITE item on the menu was the GALBI. Those are absolutely amazing and I feel like I could eat a million of them. The sauce is tangy and sweet, almost teriyaki like but a bit different. In addition, I tried the steamed dumplings and they were alright, I definitely have had better ones but they were still tasty. I am pretty sure that I felt full for a whole day after eating there, but it was absolutely worth it!

Love Tofu House. I always get the chap chae and kalbi. The place is very clean and has a really fun play area. Don't expect it to be cooked right in front of you... this comes out piping out from the kitchen. It's still amazing. Also.. their Tofu soup. Oh wow. Yum. Great if you have a cold. Clear up those sinuses!

Their soondubu is superb.Huge assortment of banchan elevates the mood.Service is extremely prompt Their seafood pancake is delish and hugeee..Must try. The kids room was a huge incentive for my daughter to finish her meal so she could go and play there. The manager (can't seem to remember his name) was extremely friendly and checked on our table couple of times. This location is so much better in terms of service and ambiance than their Ktown location in Manhattan. BCD tofu House in Fort Lee will be seeing more of us often.

Great spot! Very nice ambiance and reasonable prices. The service was good. They also have brown rice as an option with your tofu. Each person is given a mini fried fish as a "little plate" in the beginning. I would definitely recommend the kal bi. Generous portion for $19.95. The jap Che was also tasty although I didn't care for the tofu under it (it lacked flavor). It also made me feel like i had a lot more noodles originally then i actually had. Lastly, when ordering the Korean soondobo, the spicy seems to be spicier than most other places. It's not usually like that, but maybe an off day?

I love soondubu. It's probably my favourite Korean soup. So glad that my friend brought me here, but also pretty sad since I probably won't be able to have anymore delicious soondubu until I visit NJ again. My friends and I shared the haemul pajeon, which was pretty big! Decent amount of seafood in it. Each of us got a different variation of soondubu. I got the haemul soondubu (medium spice) cause yknow, no such thing as too much seafood. The broth was soooo good! Despite struggling to eat it halfway through, I forced myself to continue onward and finish most of it. I had to ask my friends to roll me out of the restaurant. The fried fish banchan was a nice touch too- kind of wish more Korean restaurants where I'm from included this. After writing this review, I just found out that there are multiple BCD Tofu Houses...Chicago, why you no have one?!

Firts time at this place. It's a little hidden, so did not find it until the New York Wing Factory opened up. Food was delicious. We ordered the steamed dumplings, marinated Korean BBQ ribs and Jap Chae. So so good. Good portion sizes. Price was reasonable. They serve alcohol, but pricey. A glass of wine was $8!! So I kipped that. Next time I'm hitting happy hour at the wing factory for $3wine glass then eating at this place! Good service as well. They have a lot of tables, could sit big groups.

Delicious and fresh Korean spicy tofu soup made with organic tofu. I usually get the seafood or mixed seafood and beef. I also like their bibimbap. Large portions and other wise no frills dining. Sometimes this place feels a little hectic, loud, and crowded in a way that makes me want to get in and get out. There is a playroom for children. Sometimes there is a wait during peak hours.

Kalbi and crabmeat tofu soup combo for a decent price during lunch time and you really got a fan of this place. They do give out alot of the korean side dishes and a whole little fish, but I was more interested in the food than the side dishes. Will be my go to place when I'm in the fort lee area

Finally got into here last weekend! The lines for this place are huge, and they don't take reservations on weekends. After finally being able to eat here, I can see why its full all the time. Their specialty is their soondubu. They have a really large variety of different soondubus. I tried the dumpling soondubu which features a spicy broth, large chunks of tofu and vegetables and some dumplings. The soup was very filling and really hit the spot. The inside of the restaurant is alot smaller than what it looks like from the outside, which probably explains why there is always a line. I would like to swing by here again sometime and try their other soondubus. Gonna have to find a time where I can dodge the lines though!

Reasons why this place is bomb: - Well, for one, the chain started in LA, and was so good that it moved to other places like here and the motherland Korea itself. When do Korean restaurants spread TO Korea? - Delicious, soft tofu that comes in 5 levels of spiciness and various additions (meats, seafood, kimchi, mushroom, soybean paste, mixed, and (don't judge) intestines). - The kalbi/galbi is tender, juicy, and goes very well with the bed of onions that the meat rests upon. It's not your typical overseasoned and sweet kalbi. It has a very clean and savory taste to it. - Great assortment of side dishes - we got a whole darn fish EACH! You can always ask for refills on the smaller dishes. - Food came out FAST, in under 10 minutes. - Great service that is super efficient - waters always filled, guy comes in perfect timing to scoop wet crusted rice for you to eat with your tofu, waiter(s) scan your table every few minutes. - On a Thursday night prime time we were seated in less than 5 minutes. - Courteous - when we got up and walked to the door to leave, we got at LEAST 8 different pleasant goodbyes from the staff. Only semi-relevant complaint: - If the parking lot is full, most people use the parking garage. For an area that is doing so well, I wish the establishments would spend a bit on the maintenance and cleanliness of the common garage. It's pretty dirty.

All the Tofus were priced at $12.99. And we ordered the LA Galbi which was 22.99. Service was fast and the food was really good. I've been to the BCD location when I used to live in Los Angeles. I really liked the fish they serve when they bring out the banchan. Highly recommend this place.

I love BCD because it always just seems to hit the spot. Whether it's rainy, snowing, or sunny, whether you're in a good mood or a bad mood, you know exactly what you'll get at BCD: a delicious bowl of soondobu, every single time. This place is definitely one of my go-to restaurants in Bergen County. The sides (banchan) are plentiful and aren't always the same, and while I'm not a fan of picking out bones, each person gets a whole little fish to eat before the main dishes arrive. Of course, the reason this place is always packed is the soondoobu. I swear BCD puts crack in their soup (on second thought, maybe it's just MSG), but the first spoonful, and every spoonful until your down, is glorious. Pair your bowl with some kalbi, which literally comes out sizzling, and you're golden. 'Nuff said.

Absolutely amazing food! I love Korean food, an there is definitely no shortage of good Korean in Fort Lee, but the octopus and tofu here topped any dish I've tasted. The sauce was spiced perfectly, the octopus tender--the only thing a bit hard to digest is the price: $19.99. Worth it though for a real treat! Also, the service was very warm and friendly. Our server kindly explained any questions, and joked around with us pleasantly the whole time. We will definitely be back again!

5 stars. This branch is way better than the Manhattan one. There's probably a number of reasons but service and atmosphere feels better. And somehow I guess that makes the food taste better in my head. I'm not going to say anything different than what's been said already. I will say lunch is where it's at. Depending on what you get, it's the same amount of food (if not more) for less money. Food: the banchan during lunch isn't as copious as dinner but honestly, to me, it's not worth the increase in price - if you're going for value. Plus, I'm not here for the banchan. EXCEPT for that small fried yellow croaker. I grew up not liking fried fish because of all the small bones. But I have no problems just having my head down and getting my hands dirty. Like crack. Then there's soondubu. The only one I don't like is the curry one. I don't know, just not my thing - call me a traditionalist. I get it medium because I just don't enjoy waking up at night with my butt on fire. Then there's the jaeyookdubu kimchi. Just delicious spicy pork and kimchi stir fried in what seems like a lot sesame oil with mini blocks of tofu. Just so good. These are two I get most. The bulgogi and galbi are great but they're great/same in most places. The seafood pajeon is hit or miss so I stopped getting them. Sometimes it's crispy as hell. Other times it's so thick so it comes out gummy. And it's just greasy as hell most times so not worth it ... Sometimes. And dumplings are dumplings. Price: like I said, lunch is where it's at. For straight soondubu, it's just cheaper but portions are same. If you get one of the meats, you get a small soondubu with it. And it's cheaper still. So if you're doing lunch or brunch, you're going to walk out with a full ass stomach and wallet. And honestly, even if you come for dinner, it's a lot of food for your money. You def get bang for your buck. Service: this is a korean restaurant. They're not going to come check up on you ever 10 minutes. Just flag them down or signal from afar. It's just how Koreans do it. Parking: it's terrible. There's parking downstairs too but it's honestly just a crazy frustrating experience if you come when it's packed. Just get ready for it and breathe. You'll get in/out soon enough. Overall, I'd come for lunch or brunch. Skip original pancake house - we all know it's not the same anymore there anyways (their portions became so tiny and it's still always packed). And you know that galbi smell is ridiculously amazing. You won't regret it.

I've been to their location in LA and New York, and the food quality is always good. We ate at 3 pm and there was still a line of people but the table turnover was super quick so we only waited 10 min. I ordered BBQ ribs and a spicy dumpling tofu. The ribs were SO good!! But the menu lied to me. The tofu spicy level was 2 chili peppers but it should have been 3 haha my entire face was sweating cause the tofu pot was so spicy. I loved the endless side dishes. Haha I got refills on the seaweed, kimchi, and spicy squid thing 3 times...and the rice OMG perfect. Maybe it's been too long since I had food outside my college cafeteria... Def worth going especially if the weathers gross, cold, and wet - which seems like it is all the time during east coast winters :( missing the 626

Tofu is my favorite. My family came for Tofu to this place last weekend. What a popular place! They have many different types of soondubu, Tofu stew , about 8or 10 kinds. We ordered Beef ,seafood and mushroom Tofu stew and ribs . They also gave some simple side dishes at first like steamed and seasoned bean sprouts, cucumber pickle, kimchi ,clear myung bean cake with seasoning and pan fried croaker fish .They were pretty good. Then a waiter a brought a stone pot of rice to scoop in to side bowls , and poured tea into the remaining crispy rice .Soon bubbling hot Tofu soups were brought in pots . The rice was cooked fresh. It was tasty. All of us like the rice as much as the soups. Especially, the the crispy part in the water was the best. We chose the medium level of hot spicy for the beef , mild for mushroom and hot for seafood. The soups were delicious and nourishing. The portion was a lot with tofu ,beef and seafood like clams, shrimp, oysters .The tender ribs here are also delicious .All of us were full and satisfied. It was crowded on weekends. The service was fast and efficient. I want to go there again next time .

Managed to beat the lunch rush today. 10 minutes after sitting down, the place was swarming and had quite the wait. Service was quick and efficient. Our waitress was friendly. Brought the banchan out quick, and apologized for the wait on the fried fish. Tea and water refills were quick despite the lunch rush. Ordered the dolsot bibimbap lunch special. Came with a hot bowl soondubu. The bibimbap was good, always enjoy cracking an egg into a hot stone bowl. Plenty of ingredients, they didn't go really heavy on the rice. Got the soondubu at the danger level of spice. Not spicy enough to deserve the danger but still good. Overall, a good lunch option

Long wait on a Sunday. Other than that we had a solid experience with a stone bibimbap bowl with veg soon dubu combo for $16ish. The bean curd ban chan with sesame was outstanding as was the kimchi. Perfectly crunchy rice at the bottom of the bowl was a great. I love that they use organic tofu given that most soy in the U.S. is GMO. I'd come where agin but on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Nit-picking but the steel chopsticks are hard to use for a somewhat experienced user like me.

The food is fine, but the restaurant should change the menu prices on its website to reflect the actual prices charged at the restaurant. Some items are off as much as $4 per dish. $4!!!!!

My first experience with BCD took place in k-town in LA. It was amazing. For some reason, this BCD branch doesn't live up to that experience. This BCD is clean and the ambiance is fine but the food just doesn't seem to measure up to the LA one. The soondooboo always seems slightly bland to me but I do love the dumpling soondooboo which isn't offered at other local competitors. Also, I don't know why they have to charge $12.99 for soondooboo. That is a little pricey. Other places in the area are in the $9-10 range. You may justify with the fried mackerel they give, but I cannot. Other places have better side dishes too. I'll never not go to BCD but I won't sing their praises either. I'm amazed at how busy this place is all the time. But if you're ever in LA, go to the BCD there and get the soondooboo + kalbi combination platter. It's the best.

Met a friend for lunch the other day (Monday). Were able to get seated right away. Just ordered the beef soondubu - but it was tasty and hit the spot. Variety of banchan was ok. Also got some jab chae for takeout. That was delicious, but on the pricey side.

I got take out and ordered Jap Chae (beef /noodles) and steamed dumplings. They were both yummy. The Jap Chae came with kimchee, black beans, pickled crab meat (?), a whole small fried fish, and pickles. Everything was tasty. The take out took 15 minutes tops.

Before I begin this review, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am Chinese, while my fiancee, the love of my life, and my future wife is Black. OK, come here for the tofu, it's good. Doesn't matter what form the tofu is in, it's good. Non-tofu Korean food, it's still good, but not spectacular. Again, come here for the tofu. Now, I'd probably give this place 4 stars but there's a very good reason why. Tonight, my fiancee and I came for dinner. As we were seated the hostess, or somebody walked away and without asking, gave my fiancee a fork. We didn't ask for a fork and I didn't receive a fork. We were confused. My fiancee can use chopsticks just fine, even the harder to use flat Korean chopsticks. I think my mom would have disowned me if I wanted to marry a woman who didn't know how to use chopsticks, regardless of the color of her skin. I ordered Bibimbap, didn't really feel like tofu stew, wasn't cold enough. The bibimbap was good enough, it hit the spot because I had some less than OK bibimbap earlier in the week. Again, come here for the tofu, it's organic and I think it's their own brand. Banchan was decent, wish the kim chi would be a little bit more intense. At the conclusion of our meal somebody came to our table, looked at me and started speaking Korean to me. I gave her a quizzical look and before I could say "I'm sorry, I'm not Korean" she turned to my fiancee and said "are you done" in English while ignoring me. I am so confused? Do I look Korean? Do Asians really all look the same? SO CONFUSED! Look, the food was good, but I'm so wierded out from this experience that I might just go to another Korean place the next time I'm in the mood for Korean. It's not like there's a dearth of Korean restaurants in Fort Lee.

Parking is a little tight here but there is a lower deck. I had to circle the block twice before I realize its on the second floor. I love the food and environment! Service was speedy . it's my second time eating Korean food and I think the server saw my confusion. She was very smiley and that ease my nervousness. We order the mixed tofu stew, bibimbap and seafood pancake. The seafood pancake was really good! Def recommend that. It was a lot of food though... We basically packed half of it to go.

The good thing about tofu soup joints is they only do a few things but they do them well- variations on a theme of tofu soup, japchae, pancake, and bibimbap. When we went for lunch, we had a sampling if all these and ended up with several meals of leftovers for not a lot of money. The service was excellent and the environment is energetic and bustling with lots of K-pop. There's even a playroom for the kiddies! It's a chain but they do it right and we'll be back.

I miss the NYC Ktown location of BCD. The place in NJ is big, and it's crowded. Prepare to smell because you will smell like Korean food by the time you walk out of the restaurant. The turnover seems quick; the beauty of Koreans is that they eat quickly, and the food is served quickly too. The soondubujjigae is top notch here, and the spicy is pretty damn spicy. They do not dumb it down like some other places. Even their medium still has a nice kick. Their LA Kalbi is yummy too. It's a great place when you have the craving for soft tofu stew. You can have different proteins with it, but if i were you - i stick with the seafood.

Go there regularly and have never been disappointed. Lunch special is a better deal than dinner despite the smaller portion.

I have been to this restaurant many times since their grand opening. Great place for family that have young kids. Good service and very kids friendly. The waitress sometimes offer extra side orders for your toddles for free (none spicy food) lunch special is great price till 3pm :)) Service is very important no matter where you no wonder this restaurant bcd tofu always full house. Great management!

This place was recommended to me by fellow Yelper Kar. He had tried this with his fam bam and loved it, so of course I had to try it as well. So on one of those random days to hang out with the homies we made our way to this place in Fort Lee. Now to think that we have visited Pho 32 right across the street so many times without knowing about this place is a huger WTF! but we're glad we finally get to experience it first hand. I don't know how the others felt but at least in my opinion this place ranks as one of my top fave korean joint in the area. My buddies and I went during dinner service and our wait time wasn't that bad--I'd say about 10 minutes before we were seated. Server was quick to come to the table and ask for our drink. We looked at the awesome menu and got our orders on. Banchan came and that awesome fried fish was delish. My Caucasian brethren weren't too big of a fan but I liked it (and that's what counts). Anyways my order consisted of the bulgogi entree. I didn't order the soon tofu cause I knew I'd be able to leech some off from my buddy. The food came sizzling and delicious and we all dug in. Ohhhh yeah that's some good bulgogi alright. I got some galbi from Kar and that ish was awesome, but I preferred my bulgogi. Damn sauce is so flavorful and could have bathe in it. Yum yum. With some Sapporo beer to wash it all down, that meal was freaking worth it. Price is absolutely reasonable and we all walked out gaining an extra 10lbs. Yeah I'm gonna have to hit the gym alright!

I've decided that their dumpling soondobu is the best soondobu that they have on their menu! The seafood is good and the mushroom is also good but the dumpling is the absolute best! The dumplings mix very well with the soup and tofu as well as on rice. But be careful because they seal in a lot of heat! I also tried the puffer fish + spicy vermicelli noodles. The puffer fish is super spicy and I couldn't eat more than one piece. But the vermicelli noodles weren't as hot and was quite good. Our waitress brought over a 2nd set of banchan for our table before we could even ask her for another set. Very attentive and almost mind-reading at the same time.

I had their special, oysters over rice in a hot stone bowl with a small soondooboo (vegetable or seafood) on the side. I think it was ~15.99 for the combo. When they bring the food out, you're supposed to wait a little bit before taking the top off to eat. They'll give you a little hourglass timer. After all the sand goes down, they'll come over to take the lid off your hot stone bowl. Make sure you let them do it.. the lid's very very hot! I didn't realize the oysters would come cooked, so that was a disappointment. The bowl also had a couple of nuts in it. Theres some soy sauce to dip the oysters in if you prefer that. Overall, it wasn't too bad, but I don't think I'll have it again. I'd rather get their specialty and go for soondooboo.

The appetizers are delicious, especially the fish that they offer. The only down side is that the fish has a lot of bones. The seafood soondobu it's really delicious. You get your $13 worth. I got a variety of seafood (shrimp, clams, mussels).

In love with their Bolgogi! Appetizers are fresh and good. If you don't know then just ask what it is or google it. Always packed but strangely you never have to wait to be seated. I go here for lunch with my co workers and including tips we pay no more then $20 each. They also do have a lunch special menu. The use chopsticks that are kind of difficult to grip but that's part of the experience, you can also ask for a fork if your really struggling. Great for groups. They also have a children play area. Also great for a nice one on one.

I've been here before and it was not as bad as this past Monday... Not sure what happened to the food quality but the food was very greasy... And the portions appear to be huge but the weird thing is? There are tofu in all the dishes we ordered! I ordered a chap jae and I found 4 big pieces of tofu in the bottom of the noodles... There are also tofu on top of the dol sot bim bim bap that I ordered... I mean... I understand it's a tofu house but putting tofu in all your dishes to make it appear to look bigger in portion? That's a big no no. Also, I don't know why and how the food got so greasy. Very disappointed. I don't think I will go back again. Not the mention the soft tofu soup was also disappointing and they increased their price to $12.99 per bowl. I mind as well go to the Main Street tofu house for their awesome tofu for just $10!

This was great. Came with two adults and a baby. So much food and the bill was $40. Really accommodating for children - even a playroom! And you can watch the playroom on tv. we never had Korean food so it was it of fun

Great service with great food. I like how they pour tea into the little rice pot after they take rice out, so the tea and rice made nice rice soup, which is really good.

Korean food is normally not my first choice when going out to eat, but this place is great! Had hot bimbimbom first time i went and went back a week later to get kimchi soondobo. Bimbimbom is not as oily as what i got in other place, the soondooboo is awesome too. This place is gonna be my to go place for korean food.

I'm not the biggest Korean food fan (I know, blasphemous), so don't really take into account my review.... It was good for a non Korean food fan. That has to mean something. The people I ate with all really like it (they're Korean food fans, and one is Korean).

I have been to multiple BCD locations across California, New York and New Jersey. This location is by far the BEST I have frequented. We received the most attentive service par excellence and thought we got lucky on our first visit. Then we went back the second time and many times after that and the quality of their service--attentiveness, promptness, and kindness has been consistent!! No wonder there is such a long line on weeknights and weekends. They also have a separate playroom for toddlers and young children while adults finish up their meals and the playroom is on a real-time baby monitor that is viewable from any seating inside the restaurant. Aside from their classic silken tofu soup, I would also recommend seafood pancake (small for a party of 2-3, large for 4+). It is very crispy, chewy and flavorful all at once. We have also seen others order steamed homemade dumplings here which must be another hit item. Thank you for such excellent service! You guys have become our favorite Korean restaurant in Bergen County!

Went several times for lunch and once for dinner. Good for both but especially lunch due to better prices. The bibimbap was a little lackluster (not bad, just no "wow this is so good" factor), but everything else we tried (soondubu, BBQ ribs, marinated pork, fish) were simply delicious. And I love the fried fish that they serve for free. :D

Update: I tried the kalbi again and it was cooked perfectly this time around. The lunch combos are great because you get the best of both worlds: tofu soup and BBQ They were out of oyster tofu soup which made me sad on a cold, rainy summer day.

I love this restaurant. It's one of my favorite places to eat tofu soup. But if you're not a fan of tofu, don't worry. They have a wide variety of choices to pick from. The service is great. Their kimchi is even better. We always try to go for lunch to catch the lunch specials that they have every day. Their lunch specials consist of a combination of a smaller size tofu soup with either bbq beef, pork and crab. We usually order the scallion pancake, which is very crispy. I highly recommend you avoid peak dinner time, as the wait can go up to an hour.

I love this place, and probably had the best Tofu soup ever here. I got the Dumpling Tofu soup which just perfect (not spicy since I can't handle their level of spice) I was very happy about the tofu to dumpling ratio, it got me full and happy. The service was great, affordable food, atmosphere was awesome and they even have a rock climbing wall if you have kids! I would want to come back here again!

I have especially high standards for Korean food, but I would have to say this place's tofu and meat is good. This restaurant is a franchise and I have been enjoying this in LA too, where it began. I would recommend this place to any Koreans or non-Koreans interested in Korean food. The price is a bit high for a tofu meal but though.

This place is overall.better than So Gong Dong Tofu place which is nearby. Tofu is less greasy and better! I enjoyed spicy pork Jeyook bokeum. Sometimes I had to wait about 20 minutes. It is really loud and crowded but the food is great to ignore such ambience. It is also a good place to take out and eat home.

Great for cold weather nights. We have been several times, and always pleased. There are several Soft Tofu Houses in Fort Lee, but we like this one the best, because they use Organic Tofu in their Soondubu. Do not be afraid to go here, if you are not Korean. We are becoming regulars. The Soondubu, Soft Tofu Soup, is their specialty. They come in many varieties, such as vegetable, seafood, dumpling and beef. We like the always have the seafood and the dumpling. If you are not used to spicy, order it plain, and they have degrees of spiciness all the way to insane. The rice is always good, I like to ask for it dry and my partner likes it with the Barley water. The Hot Stone Bibimbap and the Galbi are also excellent. The decor is very modern with hip K-pop music playing and the prices are very . Only Draw back is that they don't take reservations and there is often a wait. But on the flip side, we know they will stay in business! One of our favorites in Fort Lee, NJ!

The price of soondubu has gone up to $14. The food is good, place is clean. It's always busy. I don't know if it's worth that much. I mean it's just tofu and soup.

A black woman and a Chinese man walk into BCD Tofu House. They wait for a table. They're seated. They order their drinks. And before they can truly think about what to order, the waitress swoops back to their table and places a fork alongside the chopsticks and spoon at the woman's seat. Read that again: The waitress, unprompted and unasked, gave the black woman a fork, but not the Chinese guy. My first question: Why do I need a fork? How do I eat soondubu with a fork? My second question: Why is there a fork in a Korean restaurant, isn't there already a spoon for the chopstick-phobic? My third question: What kind of soondubu do I want? I got the seafood soondubu. It was as expected. Next time I might get hot, regular wasn't very spicy (of course, maybe she put down mild thinking I didn't know what I ordered). We also ordered some steamed mandoo. They were great - thin skinned and tender with yummy filling. The food itself was probably a 4, but i was so insulted by being given a fork (when I didn't ask for it!!!!!), that I have to take at least a star off.

This place never fails. Best soondoobu place in Fort Lee. So much better than So Kong Dong. The place is huge and there is always plenty of seating but during peak dinner and lunch hours the place is always crowded and there's always a wait. It's that good that people are willing to wait outside in the cold to enjoy a nice hot bowl of tofu stew. I always get the spicy seafood tofu stew. The banchan (side dishes) portions are generous and the service is always great. Even if you're not a fan of tofu, there are many different entree options you can choose from that aren't tofu related at all. Definitely try this place out. You'll leave full and with major food coma.

I am from southern California where the original BCD started and I loved eating there. The beef tofu and kalbi combination really hits the spot for me. The food here tastes exactly the same as the original location. I think this is because the owner ships her sauce that she prepares daily to her locations. What makes this place even better for me at least is that they have a kids playroom and are fairly kid friendly. The music is loud enough but not too loud. And is great so that no one can hear my kid if he is a little fussy. Very fast and efficient service and friendly staff. I've only been there maybe 4 times but all the servers remember us.

My first time here and i have to say the food is exceptionally good. Good decor, spacious, and the place also has a kids room for those little ones after they get done eating. The parking is packed but i cam here around lunch time, but we were seated very quickly, only about a 4 min wait. I got the beef soonduboo spicy, and boy was it delicious. I recommend everyone to try this place, its better than some spots in palisades.

This is my favorite restaurant, hands down. The location is nothing fancy, and I believe I would never have come here if I didn't live in Fort Lee for a year. I used to eat here at least once a week, sometimes more if I could persuade a friend to join me. The hardest decision for me when I arrive is always if I will order the Hot Stone Soup or, Bi Bim Bap... And that's why I LOVE going when they have their lunch special... Bi Bim Bap comes with an order of Hot Stone Soup on the side! It's more than enough to share a lunch special between two people... But I like to think I can finish the whole thing, and will usually order it for myself because I get very territorial over the food here. The Hot Stone Soup comes in different spice levels - I always get danger. It's so spicy and delicious! I warn you that the danger is VERY spicy, and if you can't normally handle spicy, then get the normal. I love that it actually tastes spicy, since I'm often disappointed at restaurants when something is labeled "spicy" and it doesn't even make me flinch. The Bi Bim Bap is also super yummy! It's perfect with their sriracha sauce, and because the stone bowl get so hot, you end up with yummy crunchy rice to scrap off and enjoy towards the end... I order both meals vegetarian, and they are happy to accommodate. They are very generous with their starters of yummy and fresh Kimchi, and will always refill you whenever you run low. I'm obsessed with their sriracha sauce... I believe they make it in-house? It's perfect. I wish they would open up a location in Florida! Anytime I go home to visit family, BCD is the first place I plan to eat at.

This is why I love Yelp!.......felt like having something different tonight and wanted to get out of my hood. So I Yelped Ft. Lee, came across the BCD Tofu House, read some good reviews and decided that I needed to see what this tofu soup was all about. It's a bustling place tucked away in a little strip mall which you actually can't see from the street but just pull into the rear parking lot next to Borders (or what used to be Borders). If you're looking for a quiet romantic dining spot, this is not it. Lots of families, small children (you get the picture)......but it's all good. I went with the Seokkeo Soondubu (assorted seafood & beef), medium spice. After placing my order I was immediately served a nice selection of banchan and hot tea. In a few short minutes a much anticipated bubbling little pot of Seokkeo Soondubu was brought to my table. Tossed my egg in, waited a few minutes and then went to town on this delicious concoction. Wow, this really was good! And the the texture of the tofu was silky smooth. Knocked back a few Hites with this meal and I was good to go!

The first time I came here the waitress was perfect! She was so nice and the food was spicy (just as I like it) I would recommend the soondooboo. I couldn't wait to come again. The second time the waitress was the worst yet. Come by once to get our orders, and that was it. Was really cheap and kept looking at the tip in front of us... It makes it hesitant to come back.

I love So Dong Kong so I was really excited to hear there was another tofu house nearby. This place has its own types of side dishes. The wait was really quick, we waited less than 5 mins. The waitresses mostly speak Korean and we had a little issue communicating but the food was delicious. I've had the seafood tofu soup, the vegetable one (all "hot" - which is great and just spicy enough), vegetable rice on hot stone and the bbq short ribs. The ribs were delicious. The vegetable rice was a little plain but once mixed with the soup, it was delicious. The tofu soup is so good. I just wished the seafood had a little more stuff in it. It was just a few little pieces (similar to SKD). There's also a kids play area so at least your loud kid can go in there rather than disturb my delicious meal. Will definitely be a regular here!

Out of the several Korean places that we have tried, including BCD, SDK and SDG, this would have to be our least favorite. Though we did not know it at the time it is a chain and it showed. When I looked at their other locations printed on the place mat I thought to myself "I wonder if yelper X or Y has been to the one in Z, CA..." She or he had been, lol, and I should have read her or his review first. :))) Wildly popular, there were a lot of people waiting with their electronic vibrating pagers as they stood out on the verandah area waiting for brunch. And of course we were happily the oddball out gringoes there. Luckily there was a Korean bakery a door down so we went in there to have a look-see while we waited to be seated. Once we were seated, it was not in the main dining room which had some nice features but off to the side in a barren and uninspired area. I know there was a wait but I could not help but feel that perhaps it was intentional... I mean we were there for a reason, because we are a step above novice Korean food addicts and we want to be immersed in the experience not on the periphery. The banchan was varied but consisted of a macaroni salad with ham in it which I have never seen elsewhere. I do not eat pork for that matter nor does my husband so we rejected it as not to have it go to waste. The fried fish that they brought my husband ate and enjoyed but since I do not eat fish he lucked out with two portions that late morning. I made due with the Kim Chi and the cucumber pickles. I am always impressed when first presented my hot bubbling cauldron of happiness. However, I did not find my BiBimbap Jeongsik to be any better than others I have had though the two together were generously sized and a good deal for $13.95. At least by not being seated in the main dining room we were spared from having to look over the child care area playground which was teeming with kids. It was really the kid's area and the attitude in general of the employees not making us feel welcome that kept this from being a solid three stars but compared to the other options we have in the area, extending to Ridgewood too, we won't be back. :((( youtube.com/watch?v=LHcP…

Even value for the price. One of my regular spots. I usually get the Beef Soondubu (spell check). But Ive tried almost everything on their menu and its either ok or delicious. Any variation of soondubu is good. The seafood pancake is also one of my favorites. No complaints.

The BCD in Fort Lee is decent, but nothing special. The one in K-Town was much better as I recall. This is an area where good just isn't good enough when it comes to Korean food. Their soondoobu lacks the flavor and depth of So Kong Dong, and the other items on the menu don't stack up to the offerings of the numerous Korean restaurants in Pal Park.

This place is a Precious Gem and if your are fortunate enough to have Ohyo as your server you probably have too much luck. The food was amazing...Tofu...to die for...Short ribs so succulent. The side dishes were fresh and full of flavor. This place is obviously a Korean secret...to which i will inform all my Italian American friends too...so enjoyable. i can't wait to come back!!!!

It was nice with few pros and cons pros - fried fish (starter) and kimchi were very good. my seafood soup tasted good cons - macaroni salad in a korean restaraunt? weird. my soup (while being tasty) smelled like "stink bugs", i just had to ignore it but it did smell funny :) service were on a low side of expectations - they didn't refill our teas, also 2 close tables were asked if they want to refill on some side dishes and never talked to us or care if we want anything.

This place was highly recommended and it lived up to the hype. Everything was great. The food ,and the service even though the place was packed to capacity. We tried to go a few other times and it was packed. They said half an hour wait so we passed. The second time we went it was kind of empty. We were stoked. We were a party of four. The bus boy brings us two glasses of water and two teas. He never returns with the rest of the water or tea. I asked the waitress for two extra cups of water and tea, which took me a lot of courage because this waitress looked pissed. Her no smile policy had me intimidated. Did I mention that one of the PLASTIC CUPS of water she brought me had a black ring of grime around the inside of it. Gross! I, reluctantly showed our waitress, who again said nothing but brought me another nasty PLASTIC CUP. It was clean but plastic cups are disgusting. The manager offers me a whole soda because of the dirty cup but it couldn't get my mind off of my negative experience here. I will not go back unless they get GLASS CUPS. The food was good but I was in a scrutinizing mood after the dirty plastic cup.

My fave sdb spot! Organic tofu and the soup doesn't taste as MSG-y like the other places. Great hangover remedy. But be careful with the level of hotness. Their very spicy should be called burn your throat spicy. The combos during lunch is awesome too. Parking gets crazy on the weekends and there's usually a wait of at least 20mins. Service is great.

Love the soondubu here and everything on the menu! The kalbi, the japchae, the bibimbap, everything! The only downside is the consistent long waits to get seated. They need to open up another BCD right next to the existing one! Delicious food.

You crack an egg and put into the hot boiling soondooboo soup. That with a nice steaming white rice from a stone pot and just kimchi and couple of other banchans were all you needed to enjoy a nice soondooboo. It is simple and your cravings are met. Now, BCD kicks up a notch and offers so many "set" menus that it's pretty impossible to just order the soondooboo. It appears the set menus are good deals so you may as well get them. Bibimbap and soondooboo? Kalbi and soondooboo? Why not? Yes I love food and I get them. More is better, right? But by getting the set menu, I don't think I enjoy soodooboo as much. There is just so much food that it takes away from just simply eating soondooboo. It's not BCD's fault that I order the set menu. Most people do it and it's a great business idea and I would do the same if I was the owner. It's just that sometimes too much takes away from the simple main dish. I am perfectly happy in that "other" soondooboo place on the main street for the price and simpler menu. BCD is so busy so it feels rushed in a typical Korean fashion. But the decor is modern and child's play area is nice touch.

    (4)
  • Jenny L.

Clean, nice space. Waitstaff gives us dirty looks for the kids in the stroller, which is ridiculous b/c they clearly expect kids with their playroom. BiBimBap is almost impossible to mess up, but their version is definitely missing seasoning on the rice.

  • Pat K.

Definitely better than So Kong Dong. Its been years since I've been back in Fort Lee, I don't know if its just me, but to get good Korean food is so difficult. They say they use organic tofu, but I'm not sure what the rest of the stew is made with. It seems clean tasting at first, but I still get that hint of msg after taste. Overall they have a good wide selection compares to other tofu houses and is great to go with your family, I have 2 kids. They have a great kids room so that you can eat in peace. I understand places have to make a profit and margins are small when you make food without seasoning packages especially broth, but I wish Koreans would step up their game and start opening up high end restaurants as have the Japanese and Italians. I mean 18 bucks for a bowl of pasta? People will definitely pay for authentic home cooked Korean Food

love this BCD house!! Super modern and cute decor! I ordered the oyster soon dubu, they put so many oysters inside! and everything was so fresh! I also ordered the spicy raw crabs...a must try....super delicious the service was good too, they gave us more side dishes once we finished ours I would definitely wanna come back here again! this place is fancy compare to the one in Pal Park, flushing or Manhattan!

I love BCD. I love it for the prices, I love it for the selection, I love it for the flavors, I love it for the personality and I love it for the generous spirit of the restaurant. Oh, and did I mention, I love it? My family and I frequent this restaurant almost every month, and we totally get it when we are handed the buzzer because of the crowd waiting outside for a table during lunch rush. I don't blame the crowd, because everyone wants to eat there. The soondooboo is very delicious, and the flavors in the other foods are so rich and satisfying. In addition, there is a mini-playroom for the kids that is nicely kept, and the wait staff are always courteous and willing to get you anything extra you may request. I have had regular dinners here, and I have also attended mini-functions like my niece's first birthday party in the little party room, and no matter what the occasion, I always leave BCD a happy camper.

The best place for soon doo boo (soft tofu) in the area by far. I was sad that the Manhattan location closed since they were 24 hours and I could get my tofu craving satisfied at anytime. The Fort Lee location closes at 10pm. If parking is difficult, you can drive to the east end of the parking lot and go down the ramp on the right to an underground parking below. There is a door down there with an elevator and stairs that takes you right next door to the restaurant. I can't recall the Manhattan location having the mandoo tofu soup. It may be unique to this location, similar to how the sausage tofu soup is somewhat unique to the LA locations. I recommend it. It's basically a beef tofu soup (might have pork, not sure) with four pieces of mandoo (dumplings). I do like the banchan they provide, especially the fish (whatever it is). Usually, just as I'm finishing up the fish, the tofu soup I ordered arrives. I rush to get that egg cracked and in that soup so it can be fully cooked before the soup cools down. All in all, it's a very satisfying meal for a very reasonable price (about $11-12 for the tofu soup). Staff is very friendly and attentive. No reservations, and there is usually a 30-45 minute wait during peak hours. You can grab a pager and have a coffee at the new Korean bakery next door.

New soft tofu soup place. They also have reasonable priced combinations which is totu soup and something else. They give a pretty good side dishes compared to other tofu soup places. Their service is efficient and quick.

I've had better K-BBQ but they have some awesome lunch speshs and the BCD Tofu House in LA is betterrrr... The tofu soup is standard, though the shrimp is not deveined which is gross and the clams are not scrubbed. Regardless, I love tofu-soup. I love that silky, mild tofu with the hot, spicy soup: heaven. We ordered one Kalbi-Soup combo and a Beef-Seafood Soup on its own for me. Banchan is decent. I've been to places where they give you HELLA banchan-- the standards weren't there: spinach, bean sprouts, sweet cucumbers, dipping soy sauce, japchae, weird gelatin thing in spicy sauce........ why? But there were some new banchan and the fried yellow croaker was so good. Kalbi is over-cooked in my opinion. H-Mart has better Kalbi and I can make it at home. Soup is great and hot and they make burnt-rice soup during the middle of your meal. Which is a good/bad for me as I like to eat the burnt rice with my soup but it was kind of yummy as a soup too. Maybe it was busy but our waters weren't filled that many times. I wish they served Barley Tea or Ginger-Dessert drink like back in good-old California but whatevs! We was craving the beebeeque and can't complain too much since we left completely stuffed.

Yes it's a little costly, but hey, if you want delicious soondooboo (and tons of variety) with well-cooked kalbi or pork and a solid array of banchan to go with a vivacious atmosphere- this is where you go.

I went here a while ago but honestly will very unlikely go back. The service was very rude and it felt like they ignored us on purpose... This was after we waited 15 minutes longer than the 20 minute wait they told us ... Even though they had a table open so they forgot about us before we even got seated. We went up and asked and it was like they were hoping we didn't come back idn rude service is a deal breaker for me.

7/24/2015 - 3 years later, and this place is still rocking. I just did the lunch special to go and dang... they give you so much food. Love this place. I didn't realize they had lunch specials everyday til 3 (including weekends). I love how they will adjust the amount of salt they put in if you don't need the additional increase in blood pressure do to the sodium content. Love this place! Awesome!!! 11/16/2012 - When this place opened, they took pretty much all of So Kong Dong's customers. Surprisingly, they've been able to maintain their food quality, and speed of service. I really like their (Dwaen Jang-Korean Miso) (Tofu soup). The free side dishes they give are good as well.

I walked in not feeling well. One of the waiters greeted me as soon as I walked in and escorted me to someone that can help me. A very nice lady at the cash register assisted me. I told her I was not feeling to well and she recommended the Kimchi soup. I ordered the soup to go and when I got home. WOW!!!! she was not kidding. I walked in not feeling well and by early evening I was feeling like a million bucks. I am a fan for Kimchi soup. :) PS. order this soup at regular spice.

This restaurant is responsible for reintroducing me to Korean soft tofu stew. Although my first experience at a different restaurant was nothing memorable, BCD tofu house was delicious. They like to boast that they only use organic tofu, and after eating here, I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. The tofu here is not like the hard to semi-hard flavorless tofu offered elsewhere- this tofu is soft and melty with a sweet milky flavor. No chewing necessary! If you like your stew fiery hot, rejoice. They offer 5 levels of spiciness: plain, mild, regular, spicy, and very spicy. I personally go for regular as it is still quite spicy. The various free appetizers they serve with your meal are tasty- the yellow croaker fish is not to be missed although there are lots of bones. Disclaimer: their kimchi often has raw oyster in it so this could be a plus or a minus. Service is friendly and prompt. The waitresses always speak Korean to my gf even though she is not Korean. The place can get very crowded and long waits are not unusual. Definitely try to wait it out if the wait is no longer than 15-20 minutes.

This is the restaurant where I discovered Korean food. I've had better Korean bbq since, but I've never had better tofu. Theirs is a silky, dreamy tofu...wish I was back there right now! You should get something with tofu of course, but that doesn't mean you have to go vegetarian. There's lots of great stuff on the menu, but there's nothing better than the soups. They make an amazing kimchi chigae. If you're new to Korean food too, this is a nice place to start because the waiters are happy to step in and help. If you haven't had korean food before, it's worth googling ban chan so you have some idea what to expect. No matter what you order, you'll get a table full of bottomless appetizers. Exactly what you get is different depending on the night and the restaurant. The best is this egg souffle thing. Wish I knew the name, but you'll know it when you see it.

I was craving soondubu when I came back from vacation and dragged my bf to this place. I was kinda mad that we missed the lunch special but no biggie. The lunch special is awesome! Kalbi and soondubu for around 15? I'm not sure. I got the curry soondubu which is my favorite. He ordered the seafood and beef. It was cute how he was amazed at every piece of sea food he got. Service is always great. My water got refilled at least 3 times. Our waitress asked us if we wanted more banchan. I especially like it when they scoop the rice for you. This place is great for groups too! I remember taking my group of friends (8 in total? around that number) and got seated right away. Like most Korean restaurants, the tables and bathrooms are clean. I can think of a few minor cons. Since it's a group/family friendly restaurant, you're gonna see annoying Korean kids running around while screaming their heads off. Seriously, Korean kids are the worst! I should know cause I was like that. They're pretty generous with their banchan and you do get your money's worth even though their soondubu is more expensive than other places. Well I'm not sure if this is really a con because I'm a cheapass. Oh and the parking lot is so dumb! There should be stairs right in front of the restaurant! Instead I have to walk my fatass around the fence. Check out the bakery next door for dessert!

The only bad thing about this place is the wait. Since it's smells so great, it's mouth watering to wait. FOOD: We started with the hae-mul-pa-jun (seafood pancake) which is full of seafood and not too bready/doughy. Crispy and full of flavor! I got the seafood soon doo boo which is full of seafood and not too spicy to kill the taste. The galbi is tender and cooked perfectly. Great service, fast food, and decent prices. Great play area for kids!

Very good place to get Korean soft tofu stew. I like to get it medium hot. yummy! Their food and service are always consistent. They accept take out orders. Which is a plus when you don't want to deal with the crowd. They do get very busy during lunch and dinner. I wonder why?

Food: 2-4 stars, depending on dish Service: 2-4 stars-some quick; some long delays (English sometimes a problem in this foreign land of NJ) Price: 2-3 stars Ambiance: 4 stars. As is more the case, Latino busboys (with papers???) run around keeping the place going. Probably will not be back.

  • Ying C.

Their organic tofu soup and galbi are delicious! Like most Korean restaurant, the meal comes with 7-8 side dishes, including a fried whole-fish. It gets jam-packed during the weekends, but they're very accurate on informing you how long the wait is. You will receive a buzzer (like Red Lobster), and it buzzes when it's your turn. There is a large free parking lot right outside that's shared amount other businesses in the area. It's kids friendly because it has a kiddy playing room (like McDonald's). The service is always friendly. You can enjoy some dessert at the Korean coffee-pastry shop, Koryodong next door.

Who goes to the Pancake house? Well even if you want to go to the Pancake house you can't because all the cars in the parking lot belong to the people eating at BCD Tofu House. Is the Dubu Kimchee the best F%^kin Dubu Kimchee you have ever had? Thank the people at BCD Tofu House for finally putting SoonDubu and CLEAN BATHROOMs in the same sentence. na na na na hey hey good by So Gong Dong. Who's with me in petitioning the BCD owners to move into the old Borders Bookstore space?

The food is tasty, price is good but there is always a wait and I question if they reuse their stone bowls without proper washing. I had one experience where I witnessed a waiter not cleaning and bringing the same scissor to another table. I have mixed feelings about this place because I love their food (especially the fresh fried fish they serve free of charge) and their prices BUT I wonder how clean they are, considering they are always busy and the amount of bowls they use!....I would not have been sceptical about their cleanliness but after I saw what they do with their scissors, it makes me think twice about all their other dishes and utensils and especially the hard to wash stone bowls!

My friend introduced me to this wonderful place a few months ago and i've probably been there about 10 times since then. My family loves it, i love it, everyone loves it here. The only sad part is that they don't take reservations! This place is ALWAYS packed on the weekends so get ready to wait for at least a half hour for a table. The food here is so reasonably priced and beyond delicious. They give you a bunch of little plated in the beginning as Korean restaurants normally do. At BCD though they give you a little fried fish and it's yummy. Takes a litle while to eat it if you're not used to eating fish whole. Now onto the even better stuff. I've never been a fan of tofu, but the soon du bu's here made me love it. I always get their kimchi soon do bu. It's so flavorful and tasty and I kind of wish I was eating one right now. With the soon du bu you get rice and you're little steaming pot of tofu. It's just SO good. The Galbi, bulgogi, jap chae, basically everything on the menu is awesome. We always end up getting the three i just named and about 2 soon du bus. People just eat the soon doo bu as their meal which is what i end up usually doing because i don't realize that i've eaten the entire pot of tofu already. If you're looking for a good Korean place in the Fort Lee area, this is definitely the place to go to. There's a ton of places to choose from, but this is definitely my favorite one i've been to so far. There wouldn't be such a long wait there otherwise! I really want a soon du bu now ....

Love this place!!! Pro: Modern atmosphere Nice staffs and fast service Plenty of parking outside Delicious tofu soup and reasonable price ( $12 or $13? ) Extra fried fish is only $1 Con: Wish there is more seafood in the soup. One time they left out the shrimp and few times the clams have no meat inside ( I checked and it's not anywhere in the soup either) Kimchi choice is just OK

Loved the Tofu soup and their "favorites" Reasonable price and prompt services. I would recommend that everyone orders a tofu soup of his/her choice - and order 1 or 2 meat dishes to share amongst all. The only question that I have is if they serve beer or alcohol? Did not notice it but would be nice if they do. Will find out next time.

This is the only location I go to have soondubu. I don't know what is it about this particular restaurant since they are a chain but it is just better here. I get my seafood soondubu and an order of galbi and I am set. Oh yea, not to forget the banchan they offer before your meal comes out. It just doesn't get better than this when it comes to a delicious Korean meal.

I come to BCD Tofu House for lunch often. It's always a fifteen minute wait during lunchtime unless you are really lucky. If you are really hungry, go to the koryodang next door and try samples of fattilicious baked goodies. BCD Tofu House has solid soondoobu chigge (I've heard the one in Manhattan is not as good). Not as good as my mom makes it, but she is oceans away and this is as good as it gets. Unless you were fed siracha sauce as breast milk, don't get the extra spicy chigge. It burns your esophagus (but hell I love it because it is refreshing and clears my sinuses). The waitresses always keep an eye out if your side dishes are running low, but if you give them a friendly reminder they're back with refills in a minute. If you are a dame/lad that's portion cautious, take another equally portion cautious friend with you and get a combo (main dish like ribs or spicy pork+sundooboo) and split it. I never manage to finish the soup on my own.

  • Michelle T.

The tofu soup is amazing here. Comes out boiling hot. The rice is also amazing as they come out in clay pots and sit at our table for a bit to get the nice crispiness. The bulgogi is nicely marinated. Unfortunately, they were out of the neng myun so I couldn't try that. This is a huge restaurant, but it gets very busy. It is very family-oriented, as they even have a small playroom for kids. Please note, the cartoons shown are in Korean. This is definitely a place for big groups of people, not date friendly.

Really liked the place. The kimchee is excellent and we loved the pork kimchee stir fry. The tofu soup was nice but not as tasty as expected. The best part was the little macarele at the beginning. The place is jam-packed and we had to wait for 10 minutes but will most likely come back.

Not your typical Tofu House. Other places like SoGongDong might be the original but BCD in Fort Lee goes the extra mile by offering an expanded menu beyond soondooboo jigae. Plus, they have a liquor license and serve all your favorite korean beers and sojus. The wait staff are attentive and fast. Dinner service is quick as they expedite dishes like a fine tuned machine. There is often a line out front but the wait is never long as staff manage to turn over the tables without ever rushing customers out the door. All great things but what sets this place apart from plethora of other Korean restaurants serving soondooboo? This is the most KID FRIENDLY Korean Restaurant will find. There is a play room that decently maintained... relatively clean for a free playroom. It stocked with games, toys and big screen tv playing Korean cartoons. Well played, BCD. Well played.

  • Nie K.

Authentic Soon dooboo jjigae! Their recipe is so secret it's made in house and there are chains in Korea and LA. My friend from Korea said it's literally the best soon dooboo she ever had and I agree. The lunch special is awesome so get a combo of jjigae and meat. So yummy. Don't even bother going to the city for soon dooboo! You can have it in Fort Lee and tastes WAY better.

  • Sue K.

i'm actually not a big fan of soondooboo, but generally like this place. it's nice and clean with modern decor. there's a kid's playroom. service is decent. it's a little pricey, but they say that the food is organic. they have interesting tofu soups (ie: curry, dumpling) in addition to the standard fare. i personally like kimchi soondooboo. they have combinations (tofu soup + generally some meat dish like kalbi, bbq pork, etc.), but you can only choose between a veggie or seafood soondooboo - bummer because i am not a big fan of either. we like coming here with the family - and it's generally been accomodating even with kids.

New top spot for soon doo boo in Fort Lee! While places like So Kong Dong have gone up in pricing and meh in quality, BCD is similarly priced but the quality of the food, especially the beef, can be tasted. The free fried fish is a nice treat and great to pass the time. Beware, lots of little bones and it comes straight out the fryer! Had the spicy beef SDB and it was great. Very flavorful and a large portion. For lunch combos, they only offer seafood or vegetable so I ordered off the regular menu. We also had the galbi which was better than most other Korean establishments. It was cooked perfect... a HINT of pink in the thin strip of short ribby goodness. I hate when places just grill it to high hell; hard to notice sometimes as the fattiness will save it. We'll definitely be back for some good food and great service. During prime time, there can be a little bit of a wait but you can pass the time in the coffee/bake shop down a few doors.

Soon doo boo right around the corner from So Kong Dong! This place better be amazing! Alas it isn't, at $11.95 a bowl I would have expected more. Full disclosure: I'm not korean but I play one on Yelp. I love Korean food, I make it at home, I eat it whenever I can, I'm a fan. Traditional Soon doo boo doesn't really call for the addition of MSG. It may be in some of the ingredients but I haven't seen a recipe that calls for it exclusively. I've cooked with it, it has purpose but not in that volume. I would never have their soup again, sorry. The fried croaker on the other hand, that sucker was tasty. It is not for those that are afraid of little bones but those of living on the edge it is a tasty treat. Best part, for $1 you can order another, and another, and another. I hear the kalbi it good as well so I may give it another shot. We were there late on a holiday Monday night. The wait for 3 people was 45 minutes and waiting is mostly done outside. They have a beer/wine license which is handy, if you are a fan of harder stuff there is a liquor store in the same strip mall. Summing this place up, the soup is pricey (SKD is $9 and they just gave the place an attitude and facelift). The decor is very nice. The music is funny (mostly 80s sing-alongs) and the staff is mostly friendly.

Cheaper alternative to Dong Bang Grill across the street. As a chain restaurant, BCD Tofu house is fine. It really hits the spot when we're jonesing for some spicy tofu. This location, however is a bit fancier than the one in the Manhattan and the ones in LA. The menu was slightly different - they didn't have dinner combinations like they do in LA. But, the food was fine and the service was great. Wouldn't recommend for solely BBQ - it's good, but I'd go across the street to Dong Bang Grill for that. If you're more into spicy tofu, then BCD is a good option!

Bcc tofu as what I had anticipated! Been going to the manhattan branch but found this one just as good, if not better due to more space, and perhaps slightly better customer service! ;-) First came the excellent banchon with the fried small fish (which I found superbly yummie) and marinated raw squid, kimchee, pickled cucumber, pickled green beans. Then came the sizzling soon tofu with white rice..! Soon tofu with seafood is the best for me... At lunch hour, they offer combo lunch set and I love their pork bulgogi with soon tofu combo ;-) only at $15 or something... Great deal. My bf and I even had take out afterwards... Argh. So full but so good!!!

On a cold day (or any day, really) there's nothing like a hot piping bowl of soondubu! BCD is great, clean, family friendly. The lunchtime specials are beyond worth the price getting a smaller size soondubu with a number of choices in marinated meats like galbi. Only downside is really not their fault, the wait can sometimes be lengthy because of how good it is!

This is probably the best tofu house in the NY/NJ area considering the quality and price. You start off with a ton of different panchan which could probably fill you up with just a side of rice, but you come here for the tofu soup. I was brave this time and got "danger" and my god was it almost too dangerous for me. With every bite it seemed like my mouth was continuously getting spicier and I nearly gave up but luckily the egg helped sooth the pain. I still found it to be delicious though and thought there was plenty of favor with each bite. For 12 bucks, this place is a great bargain as you are going to leave absolutely stuffed. We also had an extremely attentive waiter (almost too attentive) because we were one of only three tables there, but we still appreciated it. I highly recommend this BCD as opposed to the ones in the LA area.

This is my group's go-to place when coming back from some ridiculous hike or horseback riding. The tofu is great, as is the complimentary fried fish, but service is a bit spotty if your server doesn't speak English so well and you don't speak Korean. My partner asked for extra oyster and the server didn't actually whether she heard or not. She just pretended to understand. They do try to ask you how many pieces your pancake should be cut into and were great about helping us with the cake for birthday. The menu is a bit limited, but limited to what you might order anyway (tofu, tofu, jap chae, Kal bi, bi bim bap, etc). I'm not a fan of their rectangular metal chopsticks. Still, we'll be coming back.

I used to come here very often when I came back home for summer and winter break. This place used to be my favorite for tofu soup, because its valuable lunch menu and varieties of food choices. However, when I came to BCD this time (3 months after my last visit), I noticed the tofu soup is not as good as before. It is not flavorful anymore. Nevertheless, their service improves a lot more! I didn't ask for side dishes but the waitresses kept giving us.

Very clean, modern, large Korean tofu restaurant. For under $11 (plus tip) I ate like a king. I had a hotplate of spicy beef tofu soup, served with many tasty side dishes, including a fried fish and potato salad. I love all kinds of kimchi, so I ate well. They have a small room for kids to play, which does not disturb the diners, but allows the parents to oversee the kids. Top notch establishment.

If you're in the mood for some good soondooboo (spicy tofu stew), this is hands down the place to go in the northern New Jersey area. Soondooboo is notorious for having a lot of MSG, but BCD claims it doesn't put any in. This is quite a feat considering the soondooboo here is great. Hands down better than So Kong Dong Soon Doo Boo (the other Soon Doo Boo restaurant in Fort Lee)(So Kong Dong uses MSG). Although it's a few more dollars than So Kong Dong, it is totally worth it for the quality of food/service you get. If you are not Korean and not experienced with spicy food - fear not - you can choose the level of "heat" in your tofu stew. Give this place a try! It's a healthy and delicious dish.

I am very much a fan of this place, and Korean food in general, bc you get so much for the price. this place does not skimp on side dishes, and they even give you a whole fish. the lunch combos are great top.

As a die-hard So Gong Dong fan I must say I felt a bit guilty about coming here.. But after the suggestion from my dad (who gets terrible headaches from MSG) who said it tasted "cleaner" I went with P. Being in the same mini-mall as Borders, there was ample parking space. The interior is lovely and dimly lit. I liked that they had booth-like seating as well as larger and smaller tables. They also have baby room for little children which I could imagine is a huge help for families. I think I saw a few private rooms for parties. Staff is wonderful and a bit traditionally Korean but very attentive and not intruding. We both ordered a Combination (seafood and beef) Tofu spicy and I must say, it tasted delightful! I figured the lack of MSG would account for a watery taste but it was packed with flavor as well as spice. I would give it 5stars but it's pricier than So Gong Dong and I feel that the portions are smaller. BUT the upside is definitely the flavor and the fact that I don't feel sick and gross after eating every bite. I think I'm done with So Gong Dong. QUALITY over QUANTITY

  • Joseph C.

No different than other soondubu places in the area. BCD places in general are average at best and this is no exception. They serve a complimentary fish with the appetizers which is nice but watch out for the bones. Rice was overcooked every time I went and I've concluded that the wait isn't worth it for this quality. Also, parking is a pain if you come during dinner cause it's next to a bakery and other various joints in a fairly small lot so carpool if you can.

  • Woochae C.

Their claim to fame is "organic" Soon-Du-Bu (silky tofu Jji-gye, kind of a soup, but with less liquid than a typical soup). They have many variety of add-on's and you can change the spiciness to your liking, from non-spicy to Spicy. Be careful though. When they say "Spicy", they mean spicy. I usually stick with "regular" and it's spicy enough for me. They also bring out the white rice in an individual clay pot, steaming. They empty the rice to a bowl, then they pour hot water to make nu-reun-ji. It is basically slight burned crust of rice at the bottom of the pot. It softens up while you eat your main course, and it is pretty good. The price is on a little high side considering the ingridients. But it's only a couple of dollar more, so what the hey. The interior is new and nicely done, and it is pretty big. But you usually have to wait for a table during a lunch or dinner time. But they have a little play room inside, so if you have little kids in your party, you don't have to listen to countless "when are we eating?". Unlike other "tofu house", they also have a lot of non-tofu items, including kalbi and fish. Broiled yellow croaker is pretty good. Kalbi is average. Even though it is inside a mini shopping mall with lot of parking, finding an empty spot could be tough during busy hours.

I kinda have a weakness for Korean barbecues, I think that's pretty apparent by now. BCD thankfully continues the tradition of being a great spot for some good barbecue. Word of warning though, this place gets crazy busy so it can can take awhile to get seated. The staff are pleasant enough and the atmosphere while a little loud (see previous comment about being busy) its still a nice place to get together in a group and grab some grub.

After having tried REAL authentic soondooboo in LA (BCD LA and Beverly), this place really needs to step up to the game. The soup base tasted like something was missing and lacked the same hearty quality as its competitors (local and across the country). The consistency was pretty thin/ watered down looking. We also ordered the LA kalbi which is a staple with your soondooboo soup. Our meat looked like we were served re-heated scraps as the meat was already separated from the bone and it definitely did not look like the same dish that was served at the next table. The table next to us had meat still attached to the bone and was nicely marinated. We mentioned this to our server and she gave us the biggest attitude. I have to admit that this place was good when they first opened up but sadly they are not doing a good job maintaining the same level of quality and consistency.

known for nixing msg in their food, bcd is definitely worth the requisite 10-15 minute wait at dinnertime. people are always waiting in the little alcove...this place is a cash cow. banchan and rice comes out right away, with a little fried fish for each person as well. i always get the mushroom soondubu, spicy. can i say YUM? their galbi is alright, nothing really special. i always forget to tell them not to make nooroongee right away because i like eating the crispy rice with my jjigae. definitely worth it for the soondubu, i'd choose this place over sokongdong any day.

After experiencing an mediocre yet more pricy Korean restaurant today, I realized that I owe BCD Tofu House a review of 4.5 stars. Fact is, since this summer, I've been coming to this place more often than to any other restaurant. The food is always good and reasonably priced. The only reason I give it 4.5 star is that the female usher sometimes has an attitude. However other staff was always nice and responsive.

Avoid this place if you can... Definitely lost it's 4 star I gave last time. I went to the restroom and saw a worker leaving without washing his hands... It's sooo gross!!! It's not as organic as it's advertised and food is not that great anymore... There are now better tofu houses that are cleaner and better.

Hubby was beginning to not like meat lately, since he hasn't had it for some time, and found the taste of the blood/iron in steaks, unappealing. So I decided to take up my co-worker's recommendation and visited the Fort Lee location last night. The rating really is 4.5, but only because the dol sot (stone bowl) bi bim bap was only OK. Didn't matter, since the ban chan was amazing, as well as the seafood pae jeon (pancakes) - I picked out the seafood. I'm a vegetarian, oldest daughter is pescatarian, and the others are omnivores. My co-worker, Sung shared a platter of the raw crabs rubbed in spicy red sauce (don't know the menu name) and they both loved it - despite having to suck out the cold meat from bite marks in the shell. The 2 younger ones had seafood tofu and steamed dumplings. Hubby had the "mild" dumpling soup, but it was somewhat spicier than mild - so be warned. We all ate more than we probably should have, but we haven't had food this good in a long time. I throughly enjoyed the mini bok choys in a sweet/spicy sauce, and the daikon ban chan. My middle child ate 3 of the fried fish ban chan, and my oldest loved the anchovies. We don't normally drink soda, so it was a novelty to have Coke bottles in the slim aluminum containers that they served. Parents - definitely a plus to have the play room in the restaurant. It even has a rock wall with a cute Staples "That was easy" button that they press when they climb to the 6 foot level. It kept my youngest occupied since it takes some time to consume all the food on the table. The tables and flooring are dark wood, and the bathrooms are so clean - 2 stalls in each. Afterwards, we walked over to the School Zone self-serve yogurt shop, where my daughter over filled her regular sized container, and was reprimanded by the counter woman because she was cross-contaminating the toppings containers. Delish yogurt - very clean store. You can't go wrong at either establishment! Enjoy!

So Borders closed down. There is more parking now. But Gama Sot has become my new sundubu bias. While the sundubu tastes slightly better here, Gama Sot offers more value and menu choices. You won't go wrong with either place, however.

Love Love Love BCD's! My son loves the children's room and we love SoonDoBu, the LA Kalbi, and the complimentary fish! We come here so much, my sister calls it our kitchen! We love the clean decor, and the staff is great! We typically order their seafood pajun, their jap chae, and sometimes their dumpling or bi bim bap. This place is very clean, and not at all a hole in the wall, which the other tofu place is starting to feel. (So Kong Dong Main St. Ft Lee). Taste wise, it rivals it's competitor's, BUT the experience at BCD is always the reason we keep coming back!

I love this place. The service is great and they have a play room for kids. The soondubu is great, but I guess you would expect that. My favorite is the oyster soondubu, which has a handful of plump, briny, juicy oysters. It really adds to the flavor. Also, I love their spicy pork bulgogui. I was pleasantly surprise to find it non-gristly and very lean...they must use the loin. My husband usually doesn't eat pork at Korean restaurants because he doesn't like fatty pieces (no pork belly) or gristle. It's the first time he's eaten the whole thing.

This is based on two visits (Dec 2010). What I've tried: Sukkeo Soondooboo (mixed soup), Gool soondooboo (oyster), jaeyook bokkeum (pork stir fry), nakkji bokkeum (squid stir fry). Tasting notes: The soondooboo jjigae is very fresh and tastes clean. They claim that they don't use MSG, and I believe them, because there is less of an "oily" or "salty" feel to the soup. The tofu they use (claimed to be organic) has a great silky texture. I think the gool soondooboo (oyster) is my favorite one-- and the seafood they use (realistically frozen) is high quality. The jaeyook bokkeum and nakkji bokkeum was good too-- not too greasy, and the right amount of spiciness for my family. But I think the soondooboo is the star of the show. Ambience: modern interior design but with some traditional Korean elements, very clean, usually crowded. Service: friendly and quick. Recommendation: This is probably the best place to get soondooboo in the NYC/NJ area (I can't vouch for Flushing though). My parents have stopped going to Sogongdong on Main St because the ownership has changed and now the kitchen puts in a lot more MSG than before.

Went for lunch, we always go to So Kong Dong, so I thought we should give this new place a try. I shared the Galbi & Soondooboo special with my sister and my husband ordered the regular kimchi soondooboo, the panchan was decent, although the salted fish by far was the best as other location reviews have mentioned. The restaurant is definitely a lot more modernized, sleek and cleaner looking than So Kong Dong and the service is far superior. Verdict: the galbi was a bit too tough but tasty the soon doo boo was very clean tasting and the tofu was silky and delicious though not as hearty of a taste. panchan: okay spread but the salted fish is the only decent side Pros: Service, Cleanliness, Parking, Clean and very fresh tasting food Cons: The prices are a bit high, the portions are small, not as robust flavor as So Kong Dong, so if you like that heartier taste than this is not the place but it hits the spot if you're just on your way out of borders (which is next store haha)

My FAVORITE NJ Korean restaurant. If you like spicy, get the beef soon du boo and order it "spicy".. and share an order of gal bi (bbq short ribs) with your friends. I haven't had a chance to explore other items on the menu because the two mentioned above are so good! Atmosphere is great. Service is Fast. Prices are good (Lunch pricing is even better!) Brand new build out so everything is pretty new. Parking is good (and free). All in all, my go to place when I'm in the mood for korean.. 5 STARS!

Their tofu soup is very salty. And trust me, when it comes to salty food I am there. The restaurant ambiance is nice. Good for family dinners and large parties. They do give you a lot of nice side dishes. I would go back, but order something else. I would not eat their tofu soup again.

My new favorite tofu house at the moment. So gong dong is so 2000 and LATE. This place has a nice modern interior look and looks really clean. The food is really up to par. The tofu is not only healthy but here it is organic and delicious. I like to eat the haemul soon doo boo jiggz. The service is great and they give you yummy ban chan sides to go along with your main dish. I also ate the LA kalbi which is pretty good for a non-meat specialty restaurant. I definitely choose this as my go to spot when I'm hungry and don't want too spend too much money.

I had the haemul soondooboo (sdb) and it was so yum! I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was inside the restaurant! Doesn't feel like a typical SDB place at all. They give a lot of side dishes plus 1 fried fish for each person. The fish is good but -1 star for the not-so-good sides. It doesn't really matter to me though because I want to save room in my stomach for some good SDB. The bo-tong (medium) spiciness is best for me. I don't think i would be able to eat it if it was any spicier. Plus, the SDB comes out boiling hot (literally) so that makes it even spicier. Our waitress took our order 2 minutes after we sat down and our food came out literally 4-5 minutes after. Super fast service, even though there were a ton of customers. SDB was $11.95 each during dinner. Little pricier than other places but so worth it! Love this place!!!

Goto So gong dong a few blocks away. SO gong dong is much better and cheaper. BCD is good, but not nearly close to so gong dongs. Believe me, i've been eating soft tofu soup for 30 years and I'm also korean. BCD is also more expensive. They give you more side dishes than so gong dong, but it is not as good. The kalbi however, is just as good. Bottom line, goto so gong dong in fort lee or the one in palisades park over any BCD.

Great lunch special!!! Soon tofu, fried croacker, awesome pan chan, and the combination of kalbi/bulgogi/pork belly is always a welcoming sight!!!! There was a sizabale crowd on a Friday early afternoon, but the wait ended with a generous portioned authentic lunch I truly enjoyed!!!!

After visiting SKD up the road, the wife and I wanted to try BCD. Overall it was good, though there are a few differences worth noting. BCD seemed a bit friendlier and more relaxed to us. There's a kid's play area for families, more spacious seating, and just generally a more inviting decor. Seating wasn't a problem and all in all, was just cozier and a bit more intimate. The food was also good. We both had the tofu soup, me pork, the wife beef. They were good. But I did prefer SKD's. But still, very very good. With that said, when parents visit or if I'm taking colleagues someplace, I'd probably choose here because of the nicer space. But when it's just me or me and the wife, I'd choose SKD.

I was a huge fan of So Gong Dong for a while for it's soft tofu and fast service, and rude ass waiters. Until a friend mentioned about this gem. This place is far better looking than So Gong Dong to start off with the comaprison. Clean bathrooms, seating arrangements are not shared, a play room for kids, polite service, clean bathrooms (I know I repeated myself), low dimmed lights, and overall great atmosphere for anyone. On to the FOOD! I had the beef and seafood soft tofu, mild, just to try the waters. Boy, was this right on the spot on flavor, not to spicy not too plain, to me it was perfect in every way. What made it more appetizing was that it had some mussels in the broth. I just wish that soft tofu can be served like Pho in those xl bowls. There Galbi was very juicy, soft and packed with flavor. Almost as good as Zen Zen Korean BBQ in Fairview, NJ. Amazing place, it maybe a little more than So Gong Dong, but for the excellent atmosphere, polite waiters, the play room, and the amazing food, it is well worth it. Highly recommend this place.

The tofu pot here is great! The environment is new and big. The small dishes always feel fresh and varied. There's usually a wait (especially on the weekends), but they do turn around tables pretty quickly. The lunch specials are pretty good deals.

I'm not going to lie, I like the tofu soup at So Kong Dong better. But as a parent, the playroom with the rock climbing wall (my kids are serious climbers) and the Thomas & Friends train table is a lifesaver. And the soondubu? It's not exactly haute cuisine. It does the job. Not exactly thrilled with the non-tofu items though.

This place has been gaining popularity over time and now there's an expected wait of at least 30 minutes. There is a Korean bakery in the same plaza and the majority seem to wait it out here sipping on a cup of coffee. My take on its high popularity; Tofu has a very clean taste and they claim they don't use MSG. Some may a hard time believing it, but they advertise it pretty big so my guess is they would be in trouble for false advertisement if that wasn't true. They also greatly improved on the quality of side dishes. They serve a small fish to each person before a main dish which is delicious. Kimchi is also also excellent. By far the best Tofu house around.

Had a late lunch here so the restaurant was fairly empty. The service was excellent. The tofu soup is crazy delish. Order that and a korean pancake. You won't be sorry. Especially on a rainy or cold day. This food will bring you happiness!

delicious soft tofu (beef , mixed seafood) soups, flavorful LA Galbi and really fast service. I liked the individual stone rice pots they brought to the table. Really takes me back to a time when making rice was an art form. Even the nu-reung-ji was tasty (burnt rice bits softened by hot water). The meals are reasonably priced and you can request the level of spice you're willing to handle. The sides are usually simple. Cabbage, radish kimchi are staples. Pickled cucumbers are nice and a side of fried fish is a huge plus. All in all, a great place to grab soondooboojjiigae. ahhh, matsitsda (delicious- in korean)! Yes, there is usually a wait during peak hours, which in our case was lunch.

  • Katelynn C.

I like the seafood soft tofu here. It's a little pricy compare to other tofu house. They have a play room for kids which is another plus. Expect to wait at least 20 mins on a weekend. Not sure if they take reservations.

Went there every time when we wanna have tofu soup. Best tofu soup in fort lee so far. Kimchi soup is my fav. The ambience is noisy, but the service is great. Our family like the complimentary fried fish, but the extra costs 1 dolor. Have to line up about 15 min for dinner every time so it's better to make reservation in advance. Pork belly BBQ tastes great also but a little spicy. There isn't too many item to choose from but korean cuisine always come with plenty of small dishes, so two tofu soups and one BBQ make my bf and me so full every time.

This place is clean. Having moved from Queens, I always found the NJ chinese and Korean restaurants to feel a bit dirtier and dingier than ones in NY. This restaurant is open and airy with a nice decor. The staff has been friendly on all of our visits thus far. The tofu soups are tasty and NOT laden with MSG. We used to go to So Gong Dong in Pal Park, but I got really sick after eating there once. I always had MSG mouth afterwards too. Not the case after dinner at BCD. The seafood pancake is tasty, but is occasionally underdone. I prefer my Korean pancakes extra crispy. They also give each customer a small fish as part of their ban chan. I only wish they would give those steamed egg custards that seem hard to find in NJ Korean restaurants. There's parking in the plaza but it could be crowded during peak dinner times.

Tofu Soup might not sound very appealing. That is unless you've had the likes of this. You can order your soup with an option of 5 different levels of spice. I ordered the Beef and Seafood Tofu Soup. It comes with many sidedishes you become used to seeing at Koreain meals. You also get a hot bowl rice. I particularly like the pickled daikon as well as the Soy Bean Sprouts. The little whole fish is tasty, but because of the type of fish it is, it has allot of tiny bones. But like I said, its tasty. I should also warn you that you Tofu Soup is served boiling hot and I suggest you continually break up and stir the Tofu in the bowl. That will bring down the temperature quicker than waiting for it to cool by itself. Service is great. We had to wait in the Express Lane (sarcasm) with about 12 other groups in front of us. It was about a 30 minute wait, and they give you that vibrating flashing pager so you can shop the center while waiting. If its a cold night and you want a deliciously outrageously satisfying meal, you should consider this place. We need one of these in Chula Vista!

Out of three stars: Food: 2 Service: 1 Cleanliness: 2 I've been to BCD Tofu House for at least a dozen times, if not more. I remember the first time I tried their BBQ Ribs Combo - Yum! The meat tasted great and the quality of food was amazing. Unfortunately, since then, each time that we've been back, the quality of the meat has gone down. The ribs are super oily now and sometimes you can't even chew them! Anyway, we still eat there sometimes because their tofu is good! However, after today, I'm not sure I'll return. Food - Like I said, their tofu is great, no problem there. They are a tofu house, so if you go there, stick with that! Also, their bibimbap is nice. If you go for lunch, get their bibimbap and tofu combo! Service - Okay, this is the deal.... I had just started eating my meal when all of a sudden warm water/tea and rice flew at me. At first I thought maybe a kid from a nearby table had threw his bowl of food or something. Then I realized it was the server who was standing across from our table scooping the water soaking rice out of the stone bowls. She probably used too much force and lost hold of the bowl or something so I got a nice little shower with rice and water... It wasn't bad, no big deal. She immediate ran over to me and apologized, and helped me clean up. That was fine. Wasn't upset at all about that. What annoyed me was, I'm pretty sure the male host/manager (who's always there in a suit) saw/knew what happened, but he didn't do/say anything! I don't mean I'd expect a free meal or anything, but I think a good manager would have walked over and check on the situation to make sure everything was okay, if not an apology as well. That was just not cool with me..... did not appreciate that... Then as we were leaving, the hostess made it worse by completely ignoring us when we walked past her (she was all super nice saying thank you to the party who were leaving in front of us). What was that about??? Couldn't say a simple thank you to us, too?! She wasn't welcoming to us when we arrived, either. They need another hostess, fast... Cleanliness - They cleaned the tables well before we were seated, however, under the tables there were rice and chopsticks.... Final word - Unlikely to return!

Large area. Food was appetizing. Staff was nice. Bathrooms are beautiful and aptly lit. Selection of food is limited but that makes the decision less of a task compared to other Asian eateries. Overall it was a pleasant business lunch. I will come back and explore this menu.

My Korean friend took me here, telling me that it was the best sundubu in Fort Lee. I haven't tried the other places, but I don't have to. Everything was good. The sundubu was not too salty, which is a common problem with other restaurants. And the kalbi just melted in my mouth. Oh, and don't forget the great kimchi selection. Service was also gracious. I will definitely be back.

so far its the best tofu house i've been to. other places i go to usually put too much msg. but this place doesn't and i don't have that lingering dryness in the mouth. and no diarrhea from over dose of msg. i've had seafood tofu and it was fantastic. they make their own 100% certified organic tofu. we also had the steam dumpling (korean mandoo) and thats surprisingly excellent for a tofu place.

Fast and clean service with the warm and spicy goodness of soondubu (spicy tofu soup). The interior is modern and clean. The waitstaff is fast, polite, and accurate as most good korean businesses are. I tried BCD in Manhattan on 32nd but the soup there is much more watered down and the flavors aren't as deep and complex. This BCD, although the same owner, has much better tasting soondubu. Galbi is also very tender and flavorful. The japchae was okay. The vermicelli was a bit overcooked for my taste and it's served in a large fried brick of tofu with the middle scooped out. I love tofu but I've never had it in the shape of a bowl filled with japchae. Not bad... just a bit strange... Highly recommended for novice and experienced soondubu eaters. Also - the bathroom is clean!!!

  • chris m.

the sides were not typical Korean. I had pickles, ham and macaroni as side dishes. The Kimchi was below average for a Korean restaurant. We were disappoint by the over priced and average tasting dishes, including its signature tofu dishes. We opted to go back to the better tasting tofu restaurant, So Kong Dong, on Main street after one meal here. Other tofu restaurants nearby in Palisade Park area, also tasted much better for much less cost.

Had Dol Sot Bibimbob and got totally disappointed. After mixing all the ingredients in the hot bowl my dish become one hot porridge. When I showed it to the wait staff, she suggested she will bring more rice to add to it X-(... I asked her to reheat the bowl with the current mixed content instead but it was still too wet. She should have recommended another dish if they can't prepare a Dol Sot Bibimbob right.

I am so glad that this BCD place is so close by me. I mean this Fort Lee one is much cleaner and tasty than the one in NY 32nd Street. And best part of it you can get it really spicy!! This tofu place is always packed and you'll find out why. A must try if you haven't already.

I have been going to BCD in Manhattan and fort lee, nj. Manhattan closed and I thought it would be nice to revisit the one in NJ. My last visit there was in Feb of this year. Experience made me very discouraged to go back to BCD. I went there for dinner and saw only 2,3 people before us on the line. As expected I was waiting patiently with the provided beeper. People before me was all seated and then new people who came after me was being seated. I felt maybe its due to 2 seating or 4 seating. So I try to be bit more patient and waited. After that another group of people were seated so I went and informed them that somethings wrong. That people who came after me is being seated. They informed that the people were being seated according to the beeper number. Mind you there were numbers on the beeper. I really don't get that concept. Since they explained it goes in 1,2,3,4,5.... order. So if 1,2,3 gets seated and beepers were returned and given to new group of people they were calling 1,2,3, again instead of 4,5,6. lolz. So I got little mad and informed this is not right since I saw a couple coming in getting the beeper after us and they are seated before us. Guy host just walked off and girl staff came to resolve the issue. Thinking I wasn't going to wait any longer I left the beeper on the desk and came out. They called me soon as I got out that the table is ready. So I was thinking I'll just go in. After we were seated service was not as it used to be. We ordered pajun and soon doo boo. They used to serve the pajun for us but not this time. After the meal they used to pour the water in the rice bowl and serve but nothing until they saw me doing it myself. They took so long that all the rice that was stuck to the bowl absorbed all the water and required more water to even eat it. I didn't even get into the taste of the food and I wrote too much. Food was ok. It wasn't what it used to be. Bit salty for my taste. I am not sure if they use MSG since I did get a huge headache after the meal. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this location. I will definitely not recommend this location to anyone.

Just had dinner here tonight based on recommendation from a Korean friend that lives nearby in Englewood. I had just finished hiking in Palisades Interstate Park all day and did not have a car so I was eager to find a good place around Main St in Fort Lee. BCD Tofu House has plenty of seating and can easily accommodate large groups. The restaurant is very clean and employs a very friendly and helpful staff. The menu fairly limited as far the number of dishes offered, but several of the dishes on it are very good. I order the Dol Sort Bi Bim Bob ($14) which is a dish composed of assorted vegetables, a fried egg, ground beef laid over rice served in hot stone bowl. Add some kim chi, tofu, chili pepper paste and sesame oil and it became very filling. They take all major credit cards as some of the Korean places nearby do not. It is also a very kid friendly place and I envy the kid-sized rock climbing wall in the playroom. Overall, it was a good dining experience and would definitely return here if I happen to be in Fort Lee without a car.

The restaurant has a nice ambiance, and the food was good. They even have a playroom for kids, making it family-friendly. We got seats quickly. The only downside is while there's a parking lot, it's shared by several stores and another popular restaurant (pancake place open during the day). Good luck finding a parking spot on weekend afternoons. Fortunately there's lots of parking also on the street. Will go back again soon!

One of our favorite places! Pretty, pleasant restaurant with good food and service. The tofu stew is not quite as good as it is at So Dong Kong, but the restaurant is much cleaner and the servers are much nicer. And you get a whole fish with your starters! Lots of different choices on the menu--the dolsot bibimbap is very good if you don't like tofu stew.

my star is over the service not for the food. make sure to tell them to leave the hot stone bowl on the table where they scoop the rice from. i had a baby with me who was sitting at the far end of the table. i was hoping to get some soongnyoong(once they pour water into the remaining rice in stone bowl, you get a tasty rice water)after the meal. The staff did not ask us if they could put the stone bowl away and just assumed it would be unsafe for the baby (although the tofu soup is even more dangerous for the baby they left those on our table). when we asked for soongnyoong they brought out a tiny bowl (bowl that could contain one scoop of ice cream) and poured it in there. when we asked for more they said there was no more bc they had already got rid of our stone bowl. I've been to the restaurant before and there is way more soongnoong from the bowl than that tiny bowl they gave us.. plus when we asked for more sides they said yes but did not give us any. although it sounds like i am complaining about something insignificant, i still think the staff should've asked our permission before just taking the stone bowl away. the manager came up and asked if there was anything wrong. he said it was bc of the baby but hello, we had tofu bowls on the table as well.. ( our baby was completely safe the whole time).
